Wario is a greedy character and Mario's yellow-and-purple clad rival. Wario's greed pushes him to do to do evil acts such as the seizing of Mario's Castle. Due to his money grubbing personality, he is not liked by many citizens of the Mushroom Kingdom. Wario has also been proved to be very cunning as he has tricked the red-clad hero on few occasions. He has gone out on his own adventures from stealing treasure to running a mini-game making company. Wario has helped the others on a few separate occasions.
Wario has even assisted the Yoshis in Yoshi's Island DS, using his special coin magnet. Wario as his baby self was still as greedy as he is now. Infact, he deserted the Yoshis in favor of the the thieving Bandits.
Biography
A Greedy Baby
Main Article: Baby Wario
In Yoshi's Island DS, Wario, as a baby, helped Baby Mario and his friends into rescuing Baby Luigi. Wario was a greedy baby, and possesed a magnet so that coins would be drawn towards him. He later ditches his friends to leave with some Bandits since they have a lot of coins.
The Arranged Kidnapping
Although he was not present in Super Mario Land, Wario played a huge "behind the scenes" role as mastermind of Princess Daisy's kidnapping. As was revealed in the sequel, Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, Wario hired the purple alien Tatanga to kidnap Princess Daisy. This was part of an even greater plan to divert Mario's attention from his castle. After Mario saved Princess Daisy, he headed back to his castle. While doing so, he fought more of Wario's hired goons, including Tatanga. Mario then saw his castle in control of Wario. Wario was then defeated by the plumber, but Wario escaped and got his own castle in the end.
An Angry Fight
Wario would try to have his revenge in Mario and Wario. Wario would put a bucket, or some other object, on Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, or Yoshi’s head. The good fairy Wanda would help them get through the level, the only difference between the heroes was their walking speeds.
Wanda and Wario duled after every level was complete damaging Wario's plane , slowly but surely. During the final round, his plane couldn't take anymore and Wanda blasted Wario out of the sky and freed the heroes from his grasp.
Wario crashed Landed near his castle, loosing another fight with his counterpart once more.
Battle For the Woods
Wario is also the villain of the game Wario's Woods. Wario, for some reason, wants to take over the woods, and is sending in an army, to do it. This time he is stopped by Toad, Birdo and his old nemesis Wanda. Wario will constantly appear in the box in the corner of the screen, making the ceiling fall down on Toad, and sending in more animals. He also appears between levels, telling toad to give it up and go home. At the end, he makes a robot of himself, fittingly called Fake Wario to fight toad before he finally steps out and fights him himself.
Planet Bomber
In Wario Blast: Featuring Bomberman! Wario stumbled upon Bomberman 's homeworld. Seeing it as an opportunity to make a quick buck, he looted Planet Bomber and had an un-godly serge to get the complete decimation of Planet Bomber as well.
As Wario , he had to race through worlds, blowing up enemies and such (including Bomberman's army of Bombermen).
During Bomberman's raid, Wario and his False counterparts battled Bomberman, unmercifully after and during level completions. Armies of wario awaited Bomberman without fail, and almost lead to Wario's victory. Tragicly for Wario, he was on the loosing streak once more , and lost his treasure and the world he worked so hard to overrule to Bomberman himself.
Journey to Kitchen Island
Wario instantly rose in popularity, appearing again in other NES games, and his own Game Boy titles, such as Wario Land. Wario Land features a new breed of Nintendo hero actions, greed. Games Before had a Hero, or some type of good guy, Wario became Nintendo's first Anti-hero. In this game, Wario is told that there is immense treasure to be found on Kitchen Island, but that is guarded by the terrible pirate, Captain Syrup. When he gets to the island, he has a full out battle with the pirate crew, finally reaching the captain and discovering that captain syrup is...A girl!! After a long fight with the captain and her genie Wario escaped the collapsing castle with the final boss' lair, and gets the statue he's desired for most of the game, only to get it stolen back by Mario. Then, Wario uses a Lamp he found to summon a Genie, who will give Wario a house based on how many coins He's collected throughout the game.
Syrup's Revenge
Soon after the events of Wario Land, Wario returns in Wario Land II. In This Wario is indestructible, having no shortage of lives. Wario's nemesis, Captain Syrup and a few of her soldiers, the Pirate Gooms, stole Wario's treasure, flooding his entire fortress. After Wario wakes up and figures out what's going on, he chases them through the various Lands and levels. The Game has many endings and passageways, and it changes the course of Wario's adventure.
Wario ventured through the many chapters, finding challenges and getting his prizes. In doing so he faught many bosses (a Giant Snake , a Big Bull , Bobo , a Giant Bee , the Cave Master , a Giant Fish , Syrup's Mecha Spear-Man , a Giant Ghost , Bubble Man , and Syrup herself) who stood, and feel, in his way to his achievement he successfully recovered.
The Music Box World
In Wario Land 3, Wario is flying his plane one day, when he crash-lands inside a cave. Finding a Music Box in the cave, he picked it up, and it transported him to a new world. He met an oracle, who told him that he must collect the Music Cases scattered across the land. After collecting the music cases, Wario went into the oracles temple, where it revealed it's true form.. It was Rudy the Clown. Rudy reveals that he used Wario to collect the Music Boxes, and that the "Enemies" throughout the game were actually the enchanted citizens of the Music Box World. He then attacked Wario, engaging him in a hard fight, which Wario eventually won. Seconds after defeating the vile clown, Wario was met by the prisoners of the music notes he's collected, they then took him back to his world, along with the treasure that he had collected.
The Ancient Pyramids
In the events of Wario Land 4, Wario decided to take to the desert in his Car, searching for treasure that he found out existed from a newspaper blurb, he stumbles apon a black cat, who, as he follows it, leads him into a hole in the ground. Wario fell and was stuck in a pyramid. He took advantage of the wealth opportunity to steal its treasures. After he fought through 5 agonizing worlds, 20 levels, and 6 bosses he got to the Final Boss. After defeating her, he claimed the treasure and jewels he rightfully stole.
Wario, during the course of the game, confronted many bosses besides Golden Diva (Spoiled Rotten , Cractus , Cuckoo Condor , Aerodent , and Catbat) who occupied the various dormitories of levels.
A Deadly Treasure
Wario makes a mistake when, in Wario World he steals a large Black Jewel. It turns out that the Black Jewel is actually alive and evil. It turns all of Wario’s treasure into monsters, and kicks Wario out of his castle. After a long fight, Wario regains his castle.
The Castle Rescue
Wario is a playable character in Super Mario 64 DS. He (along with Luigi) came to "Crash the Party" after Mario is invited to see Princess Peach.
Wario is the final unlockable character can be unlocked by using Luigi's invisibility ability to get through the the mirror in the Mirror Room upstairs and jumping through a painting of Wario. Once there, Luigi must get through a small icy stage and fight Chief Chilly. Ironically, Wario would have been the best choice for fighting him. After he was defeated, Luigi gets a key to Wario's door and Wario is then playable.
Wario is also the toughest member of Mario's group. He can break black bricks and cause more damage to enemies; traits that the others don't have. He also can become Metal Wario, which is the metal form of Wario just like Metal Wario. Instead of using a Metal Cap, he uses a Power Flower. His only weakness is his lack of speed and jumping abilities.
Physical Appearance and Traits
According to the Wario World instruction manual, Wario is at 308 pounds, although he claims it's just his clothes ("I like to layer!"). He has a black mustache and impressive, muscular arms despite his weight problem. He commonly wears purple overalls over a yellow shirt with green, elf-like shoes and a yellow hat.
Wario is prone to outbursts of anger, especially when he doesn't get his way. He has unhygienic habits, such as nose picking, and it's clear that the person he cares most about is himself, and money.
Strangely, unlike Waluigi, Luigi, and Mario, Wario's outfit is slightly different. Wario has cut off his long sleeves he had in Mario Party's 1 - 4 and various sports games up until then. He sports the short sleeve shirt he has in the Wario Land games. It's also noted that Wario's color's don't compute with the other three plumbers. His Car is purple instead of his hat color, yellow, he has a white streak on the rim of his yellow hat, and instead of Yellow buttons he has white also. It's possibly this way because yellow is the sigh of joy and purple is more of a darker color. Wario is certainly not one to symbolize joy. Plus his outfit is a mesh of complimentary colors (opposite of the color wheel, I.E yellow and purple), on that note Mario's colors, red and blue, are Primary Colors. This wasn't done accidentally.

Make a Million
In WarioWare, Wario starts a video game software company, and getting support from various friends including Jimmy T. and Mona. He stared it in WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$ after seeing a news report on a new video game titled Pyro on his T.V. He promises his friends money for there help, but at the end attempts to take all of the money they earn. He is foiled in the end. details.
Tilted
One day, when Wario was playing his Game Boy Advance, he lost again. Angered, he flung his GBA against a wall, breaking it. Instantly remorseful, he went to his friend Dr. Crygor for help. Dr. Crygor fixed it, but there was a catch...it had no buttons. To move your character, you had to move the system. Seeing an opportunity, Wario sold these tilt-sensitive games, making millions.
Touching is Good
In WarioWare: Touched! he steals two Game Boy systems, but drops them into a sewer. An old guy finds them and in the process of getting them back he finds he could make some quick cash from the DS the old guy had. It apparently was a success and with sone newcomers, he became profit-crazy.
Wario's New Moves
In Wario Ware: Smooth Moves, Wario is gorging himself on cakes when he is interrupted by a small, strange creature which steals them from him. Wario gives chase, and the creature leads him to the "Temple of Form", where he discovers the "Form Baton". He takes it and, after running away from a boulder that chases him, he claims it as another piece of treasure.
Later, in the Tiny Wario level, Wario recieves a new motorbike from Penny Crygor. He seems to enjoy riding it despite it being much too small for him, but he then suddenly gets sucked inside the contraption and is fired out the exhaust as several tiny Wario's. Afterwards they all launch into a strawberry patch and eventually recombine back into normal Wario. He is then approached by the strange creatures from the start who chase after him to retrieve the Form Baton, which leads him back to the temple where he accidentally drops the baton back in its place, recieving the creatures' gratitude. Whatever happens to Wario after that is not shown.
Powers and Abilities
Wario is commonly associated with explosives, including Bob-ombs, and ways of stealing coins, such as a magnet or even a large vacuum.
Wario's greatest strength, though, is with items, such as pots, which give him amazing strength and other abilities. They're in Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land and appear all over Kitchen Island. With the Garlic Pot, Jet Pot, Bull Pot, or Dragon Pot, Wario can get to areas otherwise unreachable.
In Wario World, Wario could perform many spinning moves, including the Spinning Piledriver, Corkscrew Conk, and Wild Swing-Ding.
Personality
Wario is, in every aspect of the word, a pig. He's often money - grubbing, hungry, and greedy.

He's Greedy, after a certain Treasure the game is exclusive in applying. He also has a bit of bad language like in Wario World (however he doesn't curse, he says some words like idiot, stupid and moron).

He's aggressive, as are DK and Bowser, and pushes racers off the road if in his way
Mario Party Series
Apparently puts his greedy nature aside to play fair, if thats even in his vocabulary
Mario Sports Series
Often Mario's chief rival in the intro videos, and more than often, a bragger and a sore loser.
Wario Ware Series
Shows he's not as dumb as he appears to be, but alas his greedy nature takes over him a lot here and there. He is also gross and seems to have a girlfriend.

Relations with other Big Eight characters
Relations with the Mario Family
Mario had a violent rivalry with Wario, which shirred down in the years to followed. Wario and Mario have since had friendly disputes in sports and such. Luigi appears to have good relations with Wario. They've both saved each other's lives before and seem to chat in a lot in cut scenes. Princess Peach was grateful to Wario for rescuing her at one point, but always sides with Mario's team in sports events. Toad has had an unholy grudge with Wario since his attack on his Woods.
Relations with Yoshi, DK, and Bowser
Yoshi and Wario never really know each other, other than the fact Yoshi was able to transform into him with a Wario flat hat and get a few power stars. Though, in Wario's childhood, he aided a Yoshi for a short time. Donkey Kong is Wario's teammate many times and has a decent relationship with him. Bowser has had an alliance with Wario for years, only to be torn in a raid with Wario himself, the Mario Bros., and Yoshi to rescue Peach.
Other Relations
Chain Chomp is often seen incorporated with Wario related tracks, fields, ect., as are Bob-ombs. It's most likely the case, he has a gargantuan power over them, along with Big Bob-omb. King Boo and Petey Piranha have both seen action time with him a few times also. Wario and Toadette are both described as "Secret Friends" in Mario Party 6, despite the fact that he is on negative terms with Toadette's counter-part, Toad. It has been hinted that he shares a mutual attraction with one of his emploees, Mona.
Relationship with Waluigi
One popular question is what exactly is Wario to Waluigi? Although it is commonly believed he is his brother, Waluigi’s Super Smash Bros. Melee trophy says that this is not confirmed. Some sources also state otherwise.

Wario's introduced, along with Donkey Kong, Luigi, Princess Peach, Yoshi and Mario as playable characters. He has his own level in this game which stands as one of it's hardest. With DK taking the yellow color, Wario's stuck with his signature purple color.

Wario's first appearance in his Purple Kart, he has low speed and acceleration, but his mammoth weight can push any one off the road. According to the instruction manual, he got into the standings by stealing Koopa Troopa's kart.

Super Smash Bros.
Wario made no appearance in the first Super Smash Bros. except for one of Mario's five costumes, but in Super Smash Bros. Melee, he appeared as a trophy. However, it has been revealed that Wario will be a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. He will be wearing his outfit from WarioWare, Inc,: Mega MicroGame$. His fighting style seems to focus on powerful, short-range attacks. It's also been revealed that his Super Smash attack is a giant fart known as "Wario Waft".
Trophy Info
An old acquaintance of Mario's. His failure to seize Mario's castle has fueled Wario's desire for a palace of his own. Wario has Herculean strength and can do things even Mario can't imitate. His unexpected skills include a talent with items and the ability to assume many roles, among them a snowman, a zombie, and a bat.
Trivia
- In The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, the Armos Knight looks like Wario.
- The back of Wario's biker outfit has a Wario Bomb on it and reads "Hurry Up!!", his catchphrase in Wario Land 4.
- In Super Smash Bros. and Super Smash Bros. Melee, one of Mario's many outfits is the same scheme as Wario's plumber outfit, right down to the Blue M.
- Wario's favorite food appears to be garlic.
- In Wario Land 3, Wario collects an chest, called Pokémon Pikachu. Pikachu is a mascot of Pokémon.
- Interestingly, Wario Land II seems to depict Wario as a farmer. He keeps several Chickens outside his castle, including his notable pet Hen. It is unknown if Wario uses these Chickens for agricultural purposes, though, as he refers to his Hen as his "beloved pet" in the game's manual.
Future Appearances
Wario will be appearing in Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the upcoming Nintendo Wii, wearing his WarioWare costume. He will have a unique gas attack known as "Wario Waft". The more time passes, the stronger this attack will be.
Wario will also be starring in a new game, Wario: Master of Disguise, or Wario The Thief. It's technically Wario Land 5. The game features seven new abilities for Wario to use.
Development
Character Development
Wario was created by Hirofuymi Matsuoka, who also worked on Kid Icarus and Metroid. His name is a combination of Mario and Warui, a Japanese word meaning "bad."
In the past, it's been suggested that Wario was actually Foreman Spike. That theory has been debunked, though some people still believe that Wario is based on Spike.
In The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! , at the Plumber Academy , there are 6 plumbers seen. Two are the Mario Bros. and a plumber with a yellow and purple outer-lay resembles Wario, and nether-the-less is a good prototype of him.
Appearance Development
When Wario first appeared in Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins , he had bigger shoes, a more cartoon look to him than Mario, but still resembled Mario in every feature.
By Wario Land, he retired his flat hat in exchange for an explorer hat with a "W" on the front. he lost his cartoony artwork charm as in the SML2 game, but got seemingly fatter and realistic.
Soon after that he returned to his normal hat and took on the other three Wario land games in normal attire.
Warioware introduced Wario's other outfit, a biker-style esque and pink pants. Ever since, he's been known to circulate between the two outfits, depending on the game he's hosted in.
Somewhere after Wario World, Wario started wearing short sleeves in Mario sports games, up until then he wore long sleeves, as the other three plumbers did.
Sprite Development
Wario's sprites varied in god and bad ways over the years he's been around.
Handhelds
In his early Game Boy games, his sprites were black and white, but mildly detailed and during his Game Boy Color games, he took on white outfits, along with yellow. His sprites in the Game Boy Color were mildly detailed as well, due to limited graphic allowances.
In his Game Boy Advance games , Wario Land 4 and the Warioware series, his sprite changed dramatically, was strongly detailed, and they are trademark sprites in most senses and used in comics today.
In Super Mario 64 DS for the Nintendo DS Wario got his Wario World model as his sprite. Only handheld game, at the moment, to have a 3D Wario sprite. He also, strangely, walks Bow-handed.
N64
During his Nintendo 64 run, Wario was only mainly in Mario sports games. His sprites were blocky, 3D, but very poor. The low quality made it seem his nose was round, when it should've been garlic-shaped and his hands were round. His sprites looked like Picasso drawings rather than Wario himself.
GCN
Wario finally got his perfect molds and sprites in his Gamecube era. The Mario Party sprite and his sports sprites had better composition and he got his garlic nose visible and noticed. During Wario world , he appearently is bow-handed, along with the Super Mario 64 DS counterpart, while in other games he walks normal and his hands are normal.
