Cheep Chomp

Cheep-Chomps are enormous Cheep-Cheeps found in underwater levels in New Super Mario Bros. and New Super Mario Bros. Wii.
These Cheep-Cheeps are purple with a green backfin and have enormous mouths. If Mario or Luigi swim too close to the Cheep-Chomp, it will open its mouth and try to eat the adventurer. The giant fish will often follow the character around the screen while attempting to devour them. Success on their part causes the player to lose a life. They can be defeated, like all other fish, with a Fireball or being smashed by Mega Mario/Luigi. They only appear in 3-1 in New Super Mario Bros., and even then only four of them are there.
In New Super Mario Bros. Wii, it only appears twice: Once in a bonus area in 4-4, and again in a bonus area of 9-2. A Fireball or Starman takes the big fish down, but it is invincible to Ice Balls. Two changes are made: It is slightly bigger, and defeating it releases 3 1-Up Mushrooms.
Trivia
- The Cheep-Chomp is a lot like the Boss Bass from Super Mario Bros. 3.
- The Cheep Chomp acts almost exactly the same as Bubba from Super Mario 64 and the Big Bertha from Super Mario 64 DS.
