Micro-Goombas, also known as Mini Goombas, are miniature Goombas that were featured throughout different installments of the Mario series. They look like regular Goombas, being brown vaguely humanoid mushrooms, albeit they are notably smaller in size. Their main purpose is usually to slow down the players or otherwise impede their progress. They first appeared in Super Mario Bros. 3.

In Super Mario Bros. 3, some Paragoombas would drop Micro-Goombas onto Mario and Luigi, which highly weakened their ability to Jump temporarily. These debilitating pests were also known as Mugger Micro-Goombas. They first appear in the Grass Land On level 1-1. When the Micro-Goomba is launched, it will float to the bottom of the screen, if they collide with Mario Or Luigi, They will cling on either Brother for a certian amount of time and then will release.

Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars

A similar species called Goombettes are found in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. They Reside in the Sunken Ship as enemies, and a group of the Sub-Species (The Triplets) ran a Shop which was originally run by a Goomba named 'Goomba'. The Shop sold Mushroom's that when eaten, Heal 30 HP, But turn the Player Into a Mushroom. Posibly reffering to the Slowing down effect of the Micro-Goomba. Although, The party member who ate the mushroom, Steadily heals his HP as long as his Mushroom Status remains.

They also appear in Super Mario 64's Tiny-Huge Island. They appear in the tiny side, and if they touch Mario, he will not get hurt, only knocked a few feet back, but the Micro-Goombas will die. However, they are usually placed near bottomless pits or cliffs, and will often knock Mario off into these. They can easily be defeated by jumping on there heads. They are slightly faster than Regular Goomba's, And give off coins which aparently are twice as large as the Micro Goomba itself. Micro Goomba's In Super Mario 64 are only the size of Mario's Single Foot

New Super Mario Bros.

They reappear in New Super Mario Bros.. When Mario is Mini Mario, he can enter miniature pipes. If he enters one, Mario may find a Star Coin. However, in some cases, Micro-Goombas are in the way, and Mario has to bop them on the head to get to the Star Coin. In this game, Micro-Goombas possess the intelligence of any other Goomba, but can be more dangerous, because it only takes one hit to defeat Mini Mario. They can be defeated by any other form of Mario by even simply walking into them. They are the only enemy in the game which Mini Mario does not need to Ground Pound to hurt or kill.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii

They reappear in New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

Paper Mario Series

Super Paper Mario

In Super Paper Mario, Micro-Goombas are not seen but only mentioned. A resident in The Underwhere mentions that he died all because of a Micro-Goomba and a Bottomless Pit. A Sammer Guy named "Micro Boomba" is a reference to this Goomba.

Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time

In Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, in the Mrs. Thwomp battle, Micro-Goombas make up the miniature clones.

Other Appearances

Super Princess Peach

In Super Princess Peach, Mugger Micro-Goombas reappear, but this time, they completely weigh down the player.

Physical Apperance

Micro-Goomba's Are Notable for there small size. In Most Mario games, Micro-Goomba's Are 1/4 the size of a regular Goomba, there sub-species also have a trait of being small. Although, In Super Mario 64, the Micro Goomba was made as small as Mario's Foot. In Super Mario RPG, the sub species of Micro-Goomba, Gombette Looked Weak, but possesed far more power than a Normal Goomba Unlike the Previous game they appeared in. But more Recently In Super Mario Bros 64, There Eyes Changed into regular goomba eyes, And not the eyes of the predecessor's. But were later reverted in the next game.
