The title of this article is conjectural; an official name for the article's subject has not been found, so it has been given a fitting title by the editors. If an acceptable name is found, then the article should be moved to the new title.

This article is about the triple variant of Lakitu seen in Super Mario Bros. Wonder. For the level in New Super Mario Bros. U which name contains three "Lakitu"s, see Lakitu! Lakitu! Lakitu! For the base enemy, see Lakitu. For other uses, see Lakitu (disambiguation).

The Lakitu trio is an enemy spawned during two Wonder Effects in Super Mario Bros. Wonder. It appears to be three normal Lakitus riding in an enlarged Lakitu's Cloud which fly around in the background of the level while throwing various objects towards the player.

History

Super Mario Bros. Wonder

The first appearance of the Lakitu trio is in Super Mario Bros. Wonder, where it spawns during the Wonder Effect found in both Cruising with Linking Lifts and Shining Falls Special Triple Threat Deluge. In both appearances, it flies in after the Wonder Flower is collected and floats in the background while throwing items. Said items rain down upon the level, but change between its two appearances. When it is first encountered in Fluff-Puff Peaks, it throws Coins in a similar fashion to a Gold Lakitu from New Super Mario Bros. 2, along with Purple Coins and five Wonder Tokens that spawn the Wonder Seed once collected. When said seed is touched, the Lakitu trio disappears in a puff of smoke. The idea of dropping beneficial items is built up throughout the level through Condrops.

However, its function is changed drastically in Shining Falls' special world level. It is one of two events that occurs during the Wonder Effect, the other being the ability to walk on walls. The Lakitu Trio serves mainly as a detriment, throwing the Spike Balls seen in Rolling-Ball Hall. The player occasionally must direct their ammo into breakable blocks which obstruct their path, which can prove dangerous.
