Type Showdown minigame

Rosalina's Radical Race is a Showdown minigame in Super Mario Party Jamboree. It is centered around Rosalina, and takes place on a snowy mountain, potentially referencing Rosalina's Ice World. As with other Showdown minigames, it cannot be played in Mario Party mode if Rosalina is an active player character, though she can still be used in this minigame in Minigame Bay modes. Notably, it is the only Showdown minigame to use motion-controls, meaning players must use a Joy-Con to play it.

Introduction

Rosalina flies down to the snowy course and smiles at the camera. She then flies off as the four players follow her on their snowboards.

Gameplay

This minigame has four players racing against each other on snowboards. Using motion controls, players steer their character down the path in order to reach the finish line first. The course starts on the slops of a snowy mountain; about halfway, Rosalina forms a rainbow path similar to Rainbow Road. Thoughout the course are Dash Panels, both flat and on ramps. Riding over either grands a speed boost, and on ramps, shaking the controller as the player ascends the ramps makes them perform a trick, granting a greater speed boost. On the snowy mountain, deeper snow appears on some of the course's edges, slowing the player if they touch it, whilst the rainbow portion of the track contains a greater volume of Dash Panels.

In Mario Party Mode, the player who encountered Rosalina on the board first to trigger the minigame will receive a boosting item at the start as an advantage. In other game modes, all players start on equal ground.

The player who crosses the finish line first wins the minigame. In Mario Party mode, the first player receives Rosalina as a Jamboree Buddy, with no benefit yielded to other players. In other game modes, ending the race in first, second, third, or fourth is treated like placing in those respective positions as in any regular minigame.

Controls

  • Joy-Con (L) / Joy-Con (R) – Turn and Tilt Snowboard

In-game text

"Slide down the course to the goal. On ramps, shake Joy-Con (L) at the right time for big jumps!"
