Latest appearance

Hello, Sentient freedom. Just to let you know, we don't update the most recent appearance and artwork in an infobox until after the work has been released in any region (not counting beta and demo releases). Thanks for understanding, and keep contributing.

Minor edits / categories

Hello, Sentient freedom. When editing, if you'd like to see how your edits affect a page, use the "Show preview" button next to the "Save changes" button. This allows you to check over your edits for any errors and make any additional changes or fixes before you save, which will prevent edits from flooding the page history and recent changes. (If you are on mobile, make sure to check the preview page thoroughly before proceeding to save.) Please try to avoid making excessive, consecutive edits to a single page within a short timespan and instead limit them to as few as possible.

Use the preview button to avoid excessive edits like these. When you do make a small edit like fixing a typo or error, it should be marked as minor (tick the "This is a minor edit" checkbox above the save button).

Also, please make sure category pages also have categories (like this). Marie costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 02:41, June 20, 2024 (EDT)

And when adding game-specific categories (e.g. "Super Mario Party Jamboree characters"/"items"/etc.) to articles, make sure they're added in alphabetical order. Marie costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 06:35, June 20, 2024 (EDT)

Since the name is "Super Mario Party" plus an extra word, alphabetically it should go after "Super Mario Party", not before. Marie costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 06:51, June 20, 2024 (EDT)

For navigation templates (the ones you're adding like {{SMP}}), they should be ordered chronologically, by when the games were first released. You can use List of games by date for reference. Sorry for the repeated messages, I'm just making sure you get this right. Marie costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 23:27, June 21, 2024 (EDT)

Stub articles

One or more pages that you have recently created have been deleted or marked as a stub article (Room 2-1, Room 2-2, Room 2-3). Please consider the following ideas and suggestions when expanding/creating an article:
  • Before saving a new page, be sure that you have put as much effort and information in the article as you can.
  • Make sure that the page follows all of the rules that are outlined in the Manual of Style.
  • Perhaps upload a few images that can be used on the article.
Please don't take this notice as a dejection; this is just an informative notice and we encourage you to keep contributing.

Grammar check

I've noticed you've been making edits that are similar to those made by grammar checkers (like changing "in order to" to just "to"). Please don't run grammar checkers over articles without checking the results if you're using one, as they're not 100% reliable and can pick up false positives (for instance, assuming "Yux" is only singular and changing "Yux produce" to "produces" when the name is the same in singular and plural). Citations

I'm trying to make citations but it just won't work, I'm new to this stuff so I'm going to not know how to do this.
The preceding unsigned comment was added by Sentient freedom (talk).

MarioWiki:Citations explains how to do it. So for a YouTube video, for example:
<ref>Nintendo UK (August 30, 2024). [https://youtu.be/OmMWmHzFf4w Pauline joins the party! – Super Mario Party Jamboree (Nintendo Switch)]. ''YouTube''. Retrieved August 30, 2024.</ref>
or alternatively with {{cite}}:
<ref>{{cite|author=Nintendo UK|date=August 30, 2024|url=https://youtu.be/OmMWmHzFf4w|title=Pauline joins the party! – Super Mario Party Jamboree (Nintendo Switch)|publisher=YouTube|accessdate=August 30, 2024}}</ref>

Please continue to cite your edits related to Jamboree; the game is still upcoming. Marie costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 10:35, October 2, 2024 (EDT)

Italics

Hello, Sentient freedom! Thanks for your contributions. When writing titles for media like games, films, TV shows, and publications, please remember to italicize them. This is done by placing two straight apostrophes (not quotation marks or curly apostrophes) on both sides of the title, or clicking on the I icon above the text box and typing out the title. For example, typing out ''[[Super Mario Bros.]]'' generates Super Mario Bros.

If you are using a device that uses curly ("smart") punctuation, you may need to disable this function in your device's settings to be able to type out the correct apostrophes.

Marie costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 09:46, August 30, 2024 (EDT)

You're doing this when copying the Super Mario Party Jamboree name to infoboxes and references lists, but please remember to do this yourself when you type out the name in the article itself. Marie costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 23:42, August 30, 2024 (EDT)

Ok but what do you mean by that? Sentient freedom (talk) 09:05, September 6, 2024 (EDT)

When you type out a game title, make sure it's formatted properly in italics like the reminder here explains (Super Mario Party Jamboree instead of Super Mario Party Jamboree). Marie costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 04:58, August 31, 2024 (EDT)

Also, how do I put in images, I have the image for the Super Mario Party Jamboree version for Defuse or Lose but I don't know how to put it in on this wiki that is. Sentient freedom (talk) 09:06, September 6, 2024 (EDT)

Go to Special:Upload (it's the "Upload file" link under "tools" on the left navigation pane) and follow the steps there. Also, remember to sign talk page comments with ~~~~, even on your own talk page. Marie costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 08:46, September 6, 2024 (EDT)

Userbox

You're free to copy the format of my userpage but please do not use my or someone else's friend userbox without permission or falsely claim to be my/their friend. Marie costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 08:30, September 6, 2024 (EDT)

how do you manage to do all these Names in other languages templates? do you use Google Translate or something? Sentient freedom (talk) 16:26, September 9, 2024 (EDT)

They're names taken from official foreign-language versions of games and other media. They shouldn't be unofficial or fan translations, including Google Translate. Marie costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 10:29, September 10, 2024 (EDT)

Grammar

Make sure you watch your grammar when writing. You're hardly using punctuation where they should be used (not enough commas, and hardly any periods at all) and creating run-on sentences (basically writing long sentences that should be split into multiple, separate sentences). Consider looking into that part of grammar or going over some of your past edits (and article) to see how your writing was fixed. Ok so forget that last post I made I got it figured out. So can you please give me steps on how to upload files without black backgrounds? Sentient freedom (talk) 04:35, September 13, 2024 (EDT)

If the image has a transparent background, sometimes image-editing programs like Photoshop automatically add a black background to it when you paste it into one (I copied/pasted the artwork to Paint.NET with no problems). If you instead "Copy image address", then in Photoshop go to "File", "Paste Embedded" and paste the URL, it shouldn't add the black background. You're still making run-on sentences:

  1. The player goes around the boards as a single character talking to NPCs and fulfilling goals for them and gaining Mini Stars, also some NPCs will give the player Mini Stars if they clear a minigame, rewarding two per minigame.
  2. This means that the other players are ranked based on how many logs they have chopped also if no players have chopped any logs within a certain time limit all players immediately receive last place.
  3. There is a new Bros. Attack which functions immensely similar to Bomb Derby also Capnaps, Magmads and Iceads return as enemies.
  4. The minimum number of Mini Stars the player can get is 30 collecting all of them can allow them to gain a souvenir from Yellow Toad.

You're frequently sticking "also" in the middle of sentences (as in #1 to #3). If you use "also" to introduce something, it should start a new sentence. For #4, this doesn't make sense as one long sentence; these are two independent clauses and should be separate (or even just connected with a conjunction like "and").

Try to improve on where you need to use periods and commas (and use them more often, like here), otherwise it may be hard for people to understand/read; other than this, your grammar is fine. You're allowed to use a grammar checker on your own writing if it helps; it's just not a good idea to run it over all of the text already on the article for the reasons I mentioned above. Impostor Bowser

Just an FYI, since the English Super Mario Party Jamboree page uses "Impostor Bowser" rather than "Imposter Bowser", that is what this wiki is using at the moment. BMfan08 (talk) 14:42, September 18, 2024 (EDT)

The 'Shroom

So I saw The 'Shroom and I saw all of the characters and then I said "Wow I like all these characters". And I wished My made-up character was there, (a light-blue Kirby with a blue Mario-style cap with a D in place of an M). The problem is I have no idea what that would host, and I'm not that good at digital writing.Sentient freedom (talk) 15:34, October 2, 2024 (EDT)
