Wario Greats is the name of a Baseball Team led by Wario in Mario Superstar Baseball. Although the team's main name is Wario Greats, it is sometimes called Wario Garlics, Wario Steakheads, or Wario Beasts. When the Sub-Captain, Waluigi, heads the team, it is called Waluigi Mystiques, Waluigi Smart-Alecks, Waluigi Mashers, or Waluigi Flankers. Like most other teams, the characters on the team are chosen by the game during Challenge Mode, but can be chosen by the player in Exhibition Mode. The Wario Greats practice in the desert, which is where the Wario Palace is located. The Wario Palace also acts as the teams' stadium.

Team Members

The Wario Greats have a very widespread team, as they have six different kinds of players. Alongside the Bowser Monsters, the Wario Greats have the second most-widespread team, losing only to the DK Kongs. He has Boo, King Boo and Petey Piranha on his team. He also has four Magikoopas on his team. Petey Piranha is also unlockable, unlocked by beating Challenge Mode with the Wario Greats. Boo and the Magikoopas share good chemistry with each other as well as Wario and Waluigi. King Boo shares good chemistry with Boo and Petey Piranha. Donkey Kong and Birdo have good chemistry with Petey Piranha while Bowser Jr. shares good chemistry with only the Magikoopas.

The team reappeared in Mario Super Sluggers, now known as the Wario Muscles, but it is known as the Waluigi Spitballs when the Sub-Captain, Waluigi, heads the team, and their home stadium is Wario City. The team has the least number of team players, with none of them showing positive chemistry with Wario and Waluigi though none of them show any bad chemistry with them either. In fact, Wario and Waluigi only share chemistry amongst themselves overall. Along with Wario and Waluigi, King Boo and Boo are the only other members who are still on the team from the previous game. Magikoopas are now part of the Bowser Monsters and Petey Piranha has joined the Peach Monarchs. The team has the lowest amount of teammates out of all the teams in the game.

The Wario Muscles is primarily composed of characters who are common enemies to Mario and Luigi (fitting in with the theme of Wario and Waluigi being rivals to them) and rely on trickery. Goomba and Koopa Troopa have good chemistry with each other and their winged variants, who also have a similar relation, while King Boo and Boo have good chemistry with each other. The teammates also tend to have positive chemistry with at least one character from other teams; for one example, Koopa Troopa would show positive chemistry with some of the members of the Bowser Monsters.

Trivia

  • The Wario Muscles are the only team in Mario Super Sluggers that have all the players on that team playable from the start. As every unlockable character in the game was not playable in Superstar Baseball, this team is also the only one where every character did not make their Mario Baseball debut in Super Sluggers.
