The Black Sugar Gang[1] (originally known as the Brown Sugar Pirates[2]) is a group in Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 and Wario Land II. They are a band of pirates led by Captain Syrup, and are the antagonists in both games. They are headquartered within Syrup Castle on Kitchen Island. The crew is made up primarily of Pirate Gooms and Wanderin' Gooms, with most of the significant members being of other species. Though Captain Syrup returns and appears in Wario Land: Shake It!, her crew does not.

History[edit]

Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3[edit]

In Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3, the Brown Sugar Pirates become famous for stealing a number of treasures, most notably a golden statue of Princess Toadstool. Hearing this, Wario travels to Kitchen Island, planning to steal their treasures and reclaim the statue for reward money. After traversing throughout the island, Wario succeeds in both overcoming the Brown Sugar Pirates and eventually defeating Syrup herself.

Wario Land II[edit]

In Wario Land II, three Pirate Gooms led by Captain Syrup secretly raid Wario Castle and loot valuables out of revenge. Outraged, Wario chases them back to Kitchen Island to claim it back. Syrup sends her crew to defeat Wario, though they are unsuccessful. In the end, Wario manages to defeat the Black Sugar Gang once again, and recovers his stolen treasure.
