The 'Shroom:Issue 207/Staff Notes
Staff Notes

Hello, and welcome to issue 207! It's an exciting time. Not only does today have WWE's Clash at the Castle, where I'm pretty sure CM Punk will cost Drew McIntyre his World Heavyweight Championship match against Damien Priest, but also BLACK BUTLER IS BACK, BABYYY. My favorite anime, taking place in England and featuring an angry child with a demon butler, is back. He's simply one hell of a butler, guys! Not only that, but my beloved Seattle Mariners are currently leading the AL West! That's exciting! I can't wait to see how this season collapses! But anyways, in 'Shroom news, it's the calm before the storm! Next month is our summer special, themed after the second best Paper Mario game, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. We've got a lot of really neat stuff planned. I mean, I don't want to be presumptuous, but I think I can safely say that's it's pretty neat-o! You can even participate by making your sections themed around Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door! Or you can just write regular sections! Any section is a good section in my book!
In the meantime, the Mario Awards have begun in earnest! Why not celebrate a video game series that is, I hope, at least one of your top three favorite series by voting in the polls and signing up for a presentation? The list is right here, so give it a look over. I'm sure at least one of them will call out to you! Also in exciting Awards-related news, with the release of today's issue the Community Awards are open! The Community Awards run in tandem with the Mario and Fail awards and are meant to celebrate the many talented people in this community. From 'Shroom writers, to artists, to even the many community characters that litter the many forum games we play, we celebrate the people who make these projects run! The Community Awards are a little different from the Mario and Fail awards because the polls for them will only be open for one week! But you can cast votes for up to four options in each poll. To go along with the Community Awards, Hooded Pitohui, Waluigi Time, and Rose have put together the Community Dossier, which is basically a brochure giving you information on all the nominees for the various awards. Before you vote, please go ahead and take a look at that, because they put a lot of effort into it, especially poor Hood who on many nights stayed up until midnight (that's like 5 AM in Hood time) putting it together!
Now, for some exciting 'Shroom-related news, in addition to your favorite sections, we also have three new sections! In Fake News, award-winning journalist Walter G. Timeson reports on the latest controversy out of Moo Moo Meadows. Then, in Palette Swap, we have two guest sections! First, Sparks takes a look at a popular YouTube video staring fan favorite pony Derpy. Then, in honor of Pride Month, Poll Committee Chairperson MightyMario has penned a little short story about one of his characters... Well, find out what they're doing by reading it!
Well, that's enough out of me. I'll turn it over to Meta Knight for some more plugging of the summer special.
Tridents Up!
—Shoey, Director
Once again we're here serve to you all a hot edition of The 'Shroom. That's right, kicking off the summer with Issue 207! This was originally going to be our summer special, but in case you missed it, we'll be having that next month instead! That means you have roughly 4 weeks to send me anything and everything you want to make it as bombastic as possible! As a reminder, we're theming it after Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. I've even been kind enough to provide a list of ideas for you, so I don't want to hear any excuses!
While you're at it, check out the Community Awards Dossier! The Community Awards aims to celebrate everything that's happened in The 'Shroom, and the MarioWiki extended community throughout the past year. This dossier offers a chance for you, yes you, to have your voice heard as you vote for your favorites. Be sure to vote for the Mario and Fail Awards too, and come celebrate on August 16th as we observe all of the results together! As an aside, just know that you are all valued equally here regardless of how the votes turn out.
Which brings me to another announcement that is the result of unfortunate timing. The August issue of The 'Shroom, Issue 209, is currently scheduled for release on August 17th. This is in fact, a single day after the aforementioned Awards Ceremony. No doubt people will be exhausted from the Awards proceedings such as creating presentations leading up to the event, as well as celebrating during and after. As a result, we have decided to delay Issue 209 by a week, to reduce the amount of crunch time on our writers, who unsurprisingly carry quite a bit of overlap with the Awards sector of the community. Issue 209 will now release on August 24th, 2024, but rest assured it will still be a top-quality issue.
Thank you all for continuing to be a great crew. I truly appreciate everyone from our writers, staff, and of course you readers. Please enjoy the rest of Issue 207, and stay cool!
