Famitsu (formerly Famicom Tsūshin) is a company that has made video game magazines exclusively in Japan. The name Famitsu is a portmanteau abbreviation of Famicom Tsūshin; the word "Famicom" itself comes from a portmanteau abbreviation of "Family Computer" the most popular console console in Japan when the magazine was first published in the 1980s. Famitsu's comics are published in both weekly and monthly formats as well as in the form of special topical issues devoted to only one console, game company, or other theme. From October 28, 2011, Famitsu began releasing the digital versions of their magazines exclusively on BookWalker weekly.[1][2] Famitsu had made a magazines and guidebooks on many games in the Super Mario franchise.
