- —Bob-omb, Paper Mario: The Origami King
Paper Macho Gooper Blooper is a Paper Macho Soldier boss in Paper Mario: The Origami King in the form of Gooper Blooper. It is the fifth boss of the game overall.
History
Prior to the events of The Origami King, Paper Macho Gooper Blooper played a significant role Bob-omb's backstory. While Bobby the Bob-omb and his friends were on a luxury cruise aboard the Princess Peach, Paper Macho Gooper Blooper attacked the ship, and Bobby himself was tossed overboard, losing his fuse and his memories in the process.
In the present day, Bobby returns to the ship, having regained his memories and partnered up with Mario, in an attempt to hunt down a prized possession he left behind prior to the attack. Paper Macho Gooper Blooper is shown to still be patrolling the cruise's remains, having created several Not-Bottomless Holes, and has eaten several of the Toad crew members whole. The toads that survived were left traumatized and unconscious by the events. Paper Macho Gooper Blooper also sprayed ink all over certain rooms, in addition to the occasional Silhouettes of itself provided through the windows. (This happens after Mario powers the lights of the ship back on.)
Eventually, Paper Macho Gooper Blooper reaches into the royal suite and steals Bobby’s lockbox, forcing him and Mario to chase it onto the bow of the ship, where Mario faces off against the Gooper Blooper. Its weak spots are the ends of its tentacles, which are marked with King Olly stickers and explode into confetti after being hit with Mario's hammer. After four of its tentacles are destroyed, Paper Macho Gooper Blooper sprays black ink on the battlefield to slow Mario down. Every time Paper Macho Gooper Blooper slams its tentacles down onto the battlefield, it sends out slow-moving shockwaves that damage Mario. After all eight tentacles are destroyed, Paper Macho Gooper Blooper jumps onto the bow of the ship and fights Mario head-on. In this phase, it will thump the ground will its two small tentacles on its head, sending shockwaves. It will also shoot slowing ink onto the battlefield. At times, it will spin around, creating waves that scatter over the arena. After this attack, it will become dizzy and vulnerable, allowing Mario to hammer the Gooper Blooper in its eye that is also marked with a sticker, damaging its body and releasing confetti. After taking four more hits from anywhere on its body, Paper Macho Gooper Blooper is defeated and explodes, releasing a group of Toads from inside (including the ship's captain), alongside a safety deposit box that Bobby is looking for.
A Collectible Treasure of Paper Macho Gooper Blooper (No. 89) can be found in the depths of the Great Sea. Mario must sail to a rocky reef shaped like a Blooper's head and position his boat underneath the reef; on the Sea Chart, an icon for the boat must be between the Blooper's eyes in territory E-7. He must then dive underwater using the Super Marino and grab a chest from a group of Bloopers holding it to collect the treasure.
