The 100m is an event in Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 where the goal is to reach the finish line first.

The gameplay is simplified compared to the regular ("Modern") version of 100m in the game. Only the Single Joy-Con Right Button/A Button button needs to be used and there are four runners in each heat instead of eight.

One second in real life equals approximately two seconds in-game.

Trivia[edit]

  • Unusually for a major athletics meet, the runners appear to run clockwise instead of counterclockwise.
  • As the runners cannot run slower than a set minimum pace, the slowest possible time to finish the race is 39.635.
  • Timing with three decimals is rarely done at major athletics meets, and one decimal was the most common timing in real life in 1964.
