Hot Hootzes are common enemies that appear in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and its Nintendo Switch port. Similar to Tiki Seekers from Donkey Kong Country Returns, Hot Hootzes are a derived species of Hootz that, as their name implies, can engulf themselves in flames at will.

Hot Hootzes are usually stationary and do not fly around in a set pattern like Hootzes or Blue Hootzes. They attack the Kongs by releasing a fireball in their direction. During this, Hot Hootzes engulf themselves in flames, although they lose them after the attack. When engulfed in flames, Hot Hootzes cannot be jumped on or rolled into, as this injures the Kongs. However, when Hot Hootzes lose their flames, it is vulnerable to jump attacks for a short time. Regardless of their status, Donkey Kong can also defeat Hot Hootzes by throwing a barrel or another projectile at them.

Being first found in Swinger Flinger, Hot Hootzes continue to appear in levels including Crumble Cavern, Sea Stack Attack, and others.
