Earth Vellumental

Template:Character-infobox The Earth Vellumental is the first boss fought in Paper Mario: The Origami King. It is an origami turtle who resides in the Earth Vellumental Temple. Mario and Olivia encounter it after falling down a hole. It is based on the Black Tortoise.
Battle
The attacks that the Earth Vellumental uses are Sandblast and Earthquake, both of which the player can block. To defeat this boss, the player must first hit its tail, which makes it tuck inside of its shell. Then, the player must land on the 1,000 Fold Arms space to grab its shell and hit it multiple times, defeating it.
After defeating it, Olivia gets the power to transform into the Earth Vellumental on certain Magic Circles. She does so to help Mario out of the temple and to lower the Overlook Tower.
