Shifty Shrine is the first level of Special Episode in Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker. It was released on February 13th, 2019 as an early bonus for those who have purchased the Special Episode DLC before it's release on March 14th of the same year. The level takes place in a shrine that as Captain Toad attempts to explore, begins to break apart and reform continuously. Captain Toad must make sure not to get caught between the parts, or to fall from the gaps within it, as he tries to reach the ladder in the middle of the shrine, leading him to the crown at the end of the level.

Super Gems

Note: This level, and presumably all of the Special Episode, include purple gems. They were never assigned an official name to distinguish them from Super Gems, although they do not increase the Gem total on the game's level select screens. Due to lack of information, they are still referred to as Super Gems.

  • Super Gem 1: Inside a Pluck Patch within the rocky walls of the Light blue half of the shrine.
  • Super Gem 2: Inside a tight walkway within the shrine, nearby a stack of Coins.
  • Super Gem 3: Behind a Key Door near the top of the shrine. The player must toss the Key from one half to the other.

Bonus Objective

  • Took Down 3 Posters!
  • Target Time: TBA

Trivia

  • This is the first level where Captain Toad and Toadette are both playable at once using the "Adventure for Two" Co-op mode added to the Nintendo Switch version of the game. In every previous level, the 2nd player plays as a Purple toad brigade member. It's likely this is the case for the entirety of Special Episode.
  • This is the only level where a Bonus Objective is related directly to posters, and also the only time the game actively acknowledges these posters, as opposed to simply having them as small extras within levels.
