Why are all of my articles deleted?

Hi. I've made about 20-30 articles and I didn't visit for 2 days. Now, every last one that I created is no where to be found. They were all under characters. Why did this happen? I know how to put them back, but it is a hassle. Thanks.

You're articles are not deleted. However, I did remove their links from the characters page because your articles were about generic enemies and species, not characters. A character refers to a singular person of group such as Mario of the Axem Rangers. You should add links to the pages you created to the Species page for a generic race (including enemies and friendly races), the Enemies page for generic enemies and evil characters, and the Allies page for helpful generic races and good characters. Hope this helps! =) Also, I was wondering where you found the name Name Kuri. I've looked everywhere for the name to these creatures and could never find one. --Son of Suns 16:57, 6 July 2006 (EDT)

A noob here!

Im kinda new to SMW, but i know a lot of SM games. I made some items arcticles (degree cards) but i got edited. I think my arcticles were way more complete.

Please note that all contributions to the Super Mario Wiki may be edited, altered, or removed by other contributors.
If you don't want your writing to be edited mercilessly, then don't submit it here.
This note appears after the edit box every time you make an edit. If you have a problem with other edits, don't come here. I'm sure good parts were kept and OK parts were improved by other contributors. Wayoshi ( T·C·@ ) 20:44, 1 September 2006 (EDT)

I just came here to help complete your database, but since arcticles are being "merciless edited" why would i bother in doing an arcticle that i know it will be edited by some guy who just wants to write his arcticle, deleting mine? its has little to no sense.

"dont come here" <--- kinda agressive to me.

Sometimes it is better for the article to be edited. Superchao 21:20, 1 September 2006 (EDT)
I'm sorry, sir. I'll personally see to it that Wayoshi is removed from the sysop team and permanently banned. Once again, our apologies. --Steve (talk) 21:21, 1 September 2006 (EDT)

HOW DO YOU EDIT THE TITLES OF ARTICLES?!

Hi, I'm Super Pie Man, and I'd like to know how to edit the TITLES of articles. It's quite annoying when you see that the name of something is pure conjecture and is not correct, but you can't do ANYTHING about it! Please help me out!

There's a "move" tab around where the edit tab is. That tab moves an article to a different name. --YellowYoshi398 17:01, 26 December 2006 (EST)

The Vertical Line?

How do you add a vertical line? I've tried every button on my keyboard (Seriously). How do I do it? --Maxlover2 18:20, 14 February 2007 (EST)

You mean this: | Hold shift and press: \ on your keyboard. Hope that helps. --KPH2293 18:29, 14 February 2007 (EST)

How to make the box things with linx in?

You know, those tab things at the bottom -- Dragonfree

These things are called templates. If you see {{example}} on a page, it's a template called 'example' included on the page. Each such template can be accessed at Template:Name, where Name should be replaced by the template's name.  Caps Lock LORD 15:16, 23 February 2007 (EST)

Yeh, I know that, but how to make a new 1? From Scratch? -- Dragonfree

If you want it to be called e.g. qwerty, you'd go to template:Qwerty and create that page.  Caps Lock LORD 05:23, 24 February 2007 (EST)

Not sure I understand what you're asking. You can't really ask to become a sysops. It's up to the admin if you become one. -- Shyghost.PNGChrisShyghost.PNG 19:50, 26 February 2007 (EST)

Banning Stubs (WTW?!)

Whose terrible idea was it to ban stubs?! Not only does it hurt the wiki, but it hurts anyone who comes to this wiki for information. hisak

Umm....except they don't add information. People come looking for info, and get nothing. But if there was no article, they might want to create a real one. Creating new stubs distracts from real work at the wiki. -- Son of Suns
I agree with Son of Sons on this one. Full Metal MoogleKirbyWalk.gif

"But if there was no article, they might want to create a real one." I know a lot of people who are very apprehensive about creating new wiki articles. But if one was already started, they will probably be much more likely to improve the article. hisak

Then we will encourage people to make new ones. And if they don't want to make a new one, we have a lot of articles missing information they could surely fill in. -- Son of Suns

But which articles are missing the most information? How do they know without stubs? hisak

Category: Stubs -- There ya go! It's in MarioWiki: Maintenance as well. -- Son of Suns

We should at least be able to submit the information that we know of, instead of no information at all. hisak

Why? To waste everyone's time? -- Son of Suns

Some of you have been creating one sentence pages, mainly around SPM. Others like the Fay article use FAQ/Archive 1 to simply look like the writer gave no effort in creating the page and copy & pasted it. My point is, if you don't know anything about an article (other than what game it appears in), don't create it at all. This drives away the attention on the red links and drives serious writers away. I mean no one wants to work on crappy pages, do they? Great Gonzo (confused write this)

That's what the { { rewrite | expand} } template is for, isn't it? Anyways, I apologize for my earlier behavior. hisak

It's okay - just don't do it again. =) We are having a tough time with stubs lately, as the quality of the wiki as a whole is being compromised. We are attempting to come up with a certain standard for any new article. An article that meets the minimum will be a stub. Larger articles that are very complete, but still missing information, will have the expand template. -- Son of Suns

But, But, BUT, Some articles will HAVE to be stubs. I mean, how much can we expnad articles like Wario's Mom or Samantha Mathis without getting off-topic/making stuff up? - Ultimatetoad

Well if they are complete, they are not stubs, right? However, we can write about the life of Samantha Mathis. -- Son of Suns

Question: If you add the stats of the enemy, but not much else, is it still considered a stub? hisak

Yes. We need actual content in the main body of the article, not templates or lists at the end. -- Son of Suns

Standing back and looking at the discussion, this seems a little backwards. We have a category for stubs, but stubs are being done away with. What qualifies a page as a stub, exactly? -- Shyghost.PNGChrisShyghost.PNG 06:33, 9 May 2007 (EDT)

That's what we are trying to figure out. We are trying to establish a minimum standard to be called a stub. -- Son of Suns
So...once that "minimum standard" is established, stubs will be allowed as long as they meet the standard? Hisak 17:03, 10 May 2007 (EDT)

I'm nervous

I am new and I'm scared. Every time I visit this website I worry about one thing: editing. How am I able to make the best of editing, with out being warned by another user? Rock-on-peach 15:45, 24 May 2007 (EDT)

Well, Welcome to the wiki, mostly only if you add false info or bad things, you get warned. But if you help the wiki by adding confirmed facts you'll do just well. Mario riding YoshiXzelionETC

Mostly any non-vandalism edit is accepted here, but we encourage strong sentences with real content. See MarioWiki:Manual of Style. Wa Yoshihead.png TC@Y 15:47, 24 May 2007 (EDT)

Hey, don't worry. I've made many mistakes, and have been warned, but that doesn't matter. I listen to the warning, and try to follow it so I do better next time. Take a bad action you did, and use it to your advantage that's what I say - Pokemon DP

Sigs?

So... Hi, I'm new!  :) Anyway, I made my own signature; --"Ciao, my count!"... says Obiwan. 22:13, 2 June 2007 (EDT) So I was wondering, is there a limit to how I use it? Am I allowed to tack it on every article I edit, or does it serve another perpose? Thanks in advance! Love the site!

Well, don't sign your edits, put your comments at the bottom. And your sig can go on all talk pages and such. Mario riding YoshiXzelionETC

Oh, thank you! Sorry about that. By the way, I made a page on Basic Language, but the link doesn't seem to work... Is there something I forgot to do?

Taking scans from other web pages

I would like to write sometime about the Mario comics published exclusively in Germany (later also in Austria and Switzerland) and the German Club Nintendo magazine which contained the comics. But I have a question: There are good scans of them around the web, can I just save and upload them here according to the U.S. Fair Use law without asking the web page's owner - or do I have to make all these scans myself again? --Grandy02 13:51, 9 June 2007 (EDT)

You can pretty much take pictures from any website, unless the image is labeled as property of that web site. If there's nothing saying you can't use it then go ahead. Remember: those images are property of Nintendo, not that website, unless it is fan art.Knife (talk) 14:22, 9 June 2007 (EDT)

Well, almost. If an artist makes a comic and is licensed by Nintendo, the character is still owned by Nintendo, but the artwork itself belongs to the artist. Still, I don't think there would be a problem with using scans that every other Mario related site uses. -- Shyghost.PNGChrisShyghost.PNG 19:51, 9 June 2007 (EDT)
