Hey there Steve, It seems that the Mario Wiki has been a target of major vandalism lately... may I propose you promote more users to Administator/Sysop status? At times when I've been online, there's not been a single admin online. Also, may I suggest an account be created in order to edit wiki pages? Most vandals aren't logged in. I have made a proposal on the Forum. Most people (if not all) agree with it. It is about adding "likes" (originally "dislikes", too, but people said there would be some spamming, so...) If it is within your power to, can you put this into existence? For more details, look @ Suggestions for Improvement (like you don't know that, LOL)

I don't like to install mods (or extensions on the wiki) unless they really provide something useful to the site. Especially with SMF, this keeps the installation less-complex and helps to prevent problems like mods going out-of-date or being abandoned, or having to upgrade around the mods. The status quo is heavily favored, and the more complex a mod is the harder it is to get approved (but some things do get through, like the mobile site). Now, if you're going to propose a new feature, you really have to propose the actual mod you're talking about. So let's talk about the one mentioned here. Even though I don't think a Like system is really necessary, I wanted to try it out to see if it's worth considering. I wasn't really impressed, and combine that with what I just said, it's a no-go. The mod is patching-in quite a bit of new functionality, and it felt sloppy to me. Here's an example: If you double-click the Like button, it shows that two people have liked the post (you and 1 other) and shows your name twice (pic). Stuff like that degrades the quality of the site. I could try to fix all the issues I have, but I wasn't crazy about the idea of installing the mod to begin with, so my desire to install it and fix it is even lower. If something like this is built-in to SMF 3.0 (or whatever) then I wouldn't mind trying it out, but adding a Like system through a mod doesn't seem worth it to me. --Steve (talk) 19:27, 28 January 2014 (EST)

Adminship Question

Hello. I had a quick question about adminship. If I wanted to become an admin, how many edits would I need in all?

DaisyLuigi, becoming an admin doesn't involve doing millions of edits. What's needed is hard work, dedication and helpful contributions. Masking edits is supposed to be main idea of the wiki, not being promoted. When people think you're good enough, they'll make you an admin. More or less, I'd like to know: How did you (Or whoever did it) manage to assign custom text to wpUploadDescription from within the uploads page? The one that adds Template:aboutfile. I'm looking to do something similar, so that users may give proper attribution when uploading. New Wikis Ideas

Hey guy! I have some ideas to expand NIWA with 2 new wikis (still to be created) (YES, I do know that I need to ask this to NIWA forums (browsing around), but since I'm not going to make any forum accounts (for now), I'll ask this to you, since you're the founder).

Skylanders Wiki	The Skylanders series is surely a series that needs an its own wiki. It currently have 4 console titles, 1 upcoming, all of which was released in Nintendo Wii, Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. It is clearly a series that have something to Nintendo and deserves its own wiki. Also, amiibos are based upon Skylanders, but still Activision is planning to make games for Nintendo.
Nintendo Fanon Wiki	Nowdays, some people wonder on wanting to making fanon games. Seriously, there are many (Fantendo is a good example). Also, I think that this is a great opportuity to socialize... usually there are more than a person to make a game, right? The same shall apply here, as users can make "teams" in order to make games! However, is still an idea, as most of Fantendo users (if not all) make games alone. The main reason to making this is because the Pikmin series (which have 3 games) have its own fanon wiki (with over 2000 pages!), while the Mario series, which have about 100 games (probabily overcounting, but probabily more) do not have one. It's pretty unfair.

How about the ideas? I think that we can make a great Sixth Wave of wikis ^_^ (also, do you know how to make a text inside a table NOT bold? Thanks!) TSUNAMI

This is something I noticed when someone edits the comment section of a proposal. On Recent Changes, when you press the arrow to go to the section, it goes to the Comments of the first proposal seen when scrolling down instead of the Comments section that was actually edited.
