Story

The story is identical to the Wii version of Donkey Kong Country Returns. A volcano has erupted on Donkey Kong Island. Hot balls are then revealed, as the Tiki Tak Tribe come to steal every last banana they can find. They also disrupted the animals on the island, and hypnotise them. The Tiki Tak Tribe then order the animals to take away the bananas. Diddy Kong woke up, and found that there were no bananas left. Diddy Kong was furious and stormed off. Donkey Kong also noticed that the animals have taken the bananas that the Kongs would munch on. Suddenly, one of the Tiki Tak Tribe peeped into the Kong's Home and tries to hypnotise Donkey Kong, but it didn't effect him. His decision came to kick one of the Tiki Tak Tribe out of his home. Now all Donkey Kong needs to do is to rescue the bananas so that the Kongs can have peace again.

Differences and Additions

This article is under construction. Therefore, please excuse its informal appearance while it is being worked on. We hope to have it completed as soon as possible.

  • The port version was developed by Monsters Games instead of Retro Studios who developed the original Wii game.
  • The port features a New Mode which:
    • Adds an additional heart to the life meter.
    • Adds additional items in Cranky Kong's Shop, including the Green Balloon, Crash Guard, and DK Barrel.
    • Up to three items can be used in one level.
    • Any items that do not get used, are put back into the player's Inventory.
    • Banana Juice only protects against 5 hits, instead of 10
    • Cranky Kong's Keys only cost 10 Banana Coins each, instead of 20 each
    • Banana Juice only costs 7 Banana Coins each, instead of 10 each
    • If the player loses a life under the affects of Banana Juice, they will restart the level (either at the beginning or checkpoint) with the invincibility intact (whereas the original removed the invincibility upon being defeated).
    • Health loss is not evenly distributed (in the original, the player would lose one of Diddy's hearts, then Donkey Kong, etc.). Now, if the player has Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong, Diddy's health will be removed first, then Donkey Kong's.
  • The game introduces a new world, Cloud, as the ninth and final world with eight additional new levels; the Golden Temple, originally the ninth world in and of itself, becomes the new ninth world's final level.
