The Paper Macho Chain Chomp is an enemy in Paper Mario: The Origami King, a type of Paper Macho Soldier. It is not fought directly, and instead serves as an obstacle in Spring of Jungle Mist.

As Mario, Olivia, Kamek and Bowser Jr. progress through the jungle, they hear rustling from the nearby bushes. Later, as the group jumps over a gap in a log, the Paper Macho Chain Chomp lunges out at the group and eats the two Ptooies underneath the log. Kamek realizes that the Paper Macho Chain Chomp was the source of the rustling.

Later, the party must choose between three different paths. If Mario chooses the wrong paths led by Bowser Jr. or Olivia, the party will arrive at a dead end, at which point the Paper Macho Chain Chomp lunges out after several seconds, and instantly kills Mario, resulting in a Game Over. If Mario chooses the correct path led by Kamek (the path on the far left), the Paper Macho Chain Chomp chases the party upon entering, but gets stuck under a tree branch.

As the party climbs the giant tree, the Paper Macho Chain Chomp pursues them once again. Kamek spots it climbing a ladder and immediately starts running. Mario manages to outrun the Paper Macho Chain Chomp to the next ladder, and the Paper Macho Chain Chomp just misses Mario. The Paper Macho Chain Chomp reappears on the next layer eating a Fire Piranha Plant and chases the group to a vine which they use to escape from the tree and swing to the nearby floating island. The Paper Macho Chain Chomp lunges at the group, but once again misses them and falls from the sky. It is unknown what happens to it afterwards, as it is not seen again for the rest of the game.

When the Paper Macho Chain Chomp chases Mario, getting caught will cause an instant Game Over. Just before the Game Over screen appears, the player can hear the sound of the Paper Macho Chain Chomp's metallic jaws munching on Mario and co.; if the Game Over is caused by choosing one of the wrong paths, a high-pitched scream is heard before the chomping noises.
