The Mighty Cannonship, or Soda Jungle-Airship, is the first airship level as well as the first level of Soda Jungle in New Super Mario Bros. U. This course is unlocked via completing Larry's Torpedo Castle or Wendy's Shifting Castle and its own completion unlocks Jungle of the Giants. However, completing Blooper's Secret Lair or Piranha Plants on Ice involves skipping The Mighty Cannonship entirely.

Layout

First Bowser Jr. battle

Bowser Jr. comes down with the Airship and snatches up the player at the beginning of the level.

The level begins near a Mechakoopa, a Cannon firing Cannonballs, and a ? Block containing a power-up. A Bolt Lift is found above a Mechakoopa, and is followed by a series of Cannons. Rope ladders and crates follow, along with a Red Ring and some platforms. Three large Cannons firing giant cannonballs are encountered. A Bolt Lift and another large Cannon are found before the Checkpoint Flag. A red Warp Pipe leads to an underwater section of the airship. The sections begins with a red Torpedo Base releasing Targeting Teds, a Mecha Cheep, and some ? Block containing coins. A ? Block containing a power-up follows, along with more Mecha Cheeps. Another red Torpedo Base is found before a passage with Mecha Cheeps in it. A red Warp Pipe is found at the end, with a red Torpedo Base above it.

The Warp Pipe leads to Bowser Jr., whose Junior Clown Car is in submarine mode. He launches Targeting Teds at Mario while the pipes from the ceiling activate periodically and push Mario down. The player must guide the Targeting Teds to hit Bowser Jr.'s submarine. After three hits, Bowser Jr. falls off stage, and the room drains itself. However, Bowser Jr. comes back and tries to use the Mecha Hand to smash Mario, but Mario jumps out of the way and continues into Soda Jungle.

Star Coins

  • Star Coin 1: In the first section, the player must climb down a ladder above the first Star Coin to collect it.
  • Star Coin 2: The player must jump off a Cannonball to collect the second Star Coin.
  • Star Coin 3: The player must use the Targeting Teds (or be Super Mario) to break the Brick Blocks blocking the final Star Coin.
