“Hi!”
Kirby, Super Smash Bros. Melee

Kirby is a creature from the planet Pop Star. He lives in the country called Dream Land. However, his land is ruled by a corrupt king called King Dedede. But Kirby always manages to protect his land. His species is unknown, and the only other one of his species known is Meta Knight, Kirby's rival and friend. Kirby rarely appears in the Marioverse, but his most notable appearance is the Super Smash Bros. series.

Super Smash Bros. Series

Kirby's first Mario series appearance was in Super Smash Bros. Although, Mario made a cameo in Kirby Super Star, which was made earlier. Kirby was a light fighter, and most of his attacks were light-weight (except for his Stone attack, of course). However, Kirby had a unique ability, so far restricted to him. He is able to use suction abilities, and pull an opposing fighter inside his mouth. Once he spat that player out, Kirby would gain one of their powers. This attack was taken straight from the Kirby series. Each character gives him a differant attack, and he could easily get rid of the power by taunting. This ability made him a favorite among players.

Kirby returned in the games sequel Super Smash Bros. Melee. He was still a default character, but was lighter and weaker than before. However, that doesn't mean he's useless. Kirby is now able to copy more abilities, now that

more characters have been introduced, and is now able to use a new attack, the Hammer.

In Adventure Mode, Kirby appears in Stage 5: Green Greens. The player must battle Kirby in the Green Greens stage. Upon his defeat, the player must battle 18 Kirby's, each with a different power. If the 18 Kirby's are defeated in less than 30 seconds, a giant Kirby will appear to battle the player. However, this Kirby is basically the same as a Kirby who has permanently used a Mushroom.

Kirby will return in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, along with his rival Meta Knight. He will be using his Hammer move, and he has been heard using Final Cutter. He will also keep his famous Swallow attack. Kirby's Final Smash attack is the conjecturally called Cook ability.

Other Appearances in the Marioverse

Kirby made a cameo in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga in the Yoshi Theater poster. There was a poster in the theater advertising a movie known as Kirby Story, whose artwork featured Kirby riding a Warpstar through the air. The Kirby series enemy Gordo also appeared in Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins, and the Star Rod, the single most important artifact of the Kirby series, got appearances as a major artifact in Paper Mario and Mario Party 8.

Mario has also made cameos in some of his games. One such cameo is Kirby Super Star, where Mario, Luigi, Toad, Princess Peach, and Birdo were in the background of events such as Kirby Vs Dedede and the Megaton Punch competition.

Finally, Kirby appeared alongside Mario in the obscure educational video Mario Kirby Masterpiece; however, this video was merely a compilation of their non-intertwining adventures. In Kirby's Mario Kirby Masterpiece segment, he helps a little lost dog find its mother, who was kidnapped by King Dedede.

Profile Information from Super Smash Bros.

The 8-inch high Kirby hails from a distant, peaceful star. Like his simplistic appearance, he is an easily-understood character. True to his instincts, Kirby eats when he gets hungry and sleeps as soon as he grows tired. Nevertheless, Kirby remains a formidable opponent. In addition to his distinct flying and swallowing skills, he also has the ability to copy enemy attacks for ever-changing action.

Trophy Information from Super Smash Bros. Melee

Classic

A denizen of the far-off, peaceful planet Pop Star, Kirby became a citizen of Dream Land after defeating King Dedede. Even though he's only about eight inches tall, Kirby is an extremely skilled technician. He has the ability to absorb the powers of his enemies, and his elastic body makes him a versatile adventurer.

Adventure

Kirby's small size lets him dodge many attacks, but his light weight makes him fly far when struck. Using his ability to inflate, he can jump five times. His Swallow attack creates wild combos; not only can he copy foes' moves, but he'll also put on special hats and mimic their voices. His Hammer is unwieldy but powerful.

All-Star

Because of his light weight, Kirby is always in danger of being sent flying, but his ability to puff up and fly allows him to come back from amazing distances. His Final Cutter strikes on the way up and on the way down, and it sends out a beam of force upon landing. Kirby transforms into various objects and crashes down when he uses his Stone technique.
