Nintendo Direct (JP) - October 21, 2011 Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land, Fortune Street, Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games, This Direct began by showing off StreetPass Mii Plaza, with a Mii wearing a Mario Cap present. The Puzzle Swap mode is shown off using the Donkey Kong Country Returns puzzle.

An Iwata Asks interview about Mario Kart 7 is played.

Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games for the Nintendo 3DS was showcased, along with gameplay of various events.

The special edition "Chotto" 3DS consoles are given a mention.

Nintendo Direct - February 22, 2012 Mario Tennis Open, Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games This Direct revealed the North American retail release date for Mario Tennis Open, and had Bill Trinen talk with Erik Peterson, who is the NOA Localization Producer of the game.

Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games for the Nintendo 3DS is mentioned at the end of the presentation, along with other third-party Nintendo 3DS games releasing around that time.

Nintendo Direct (KR) - April 14, 2012 Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, Bird & Beans This Direct highlighted the near release of the Nintendo 3DS in South Korea, with Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 being highlighted as games for the system.

In an overview trailer, box art for Mario Party DS, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, New Super Mario Bros., WarioWare: Touched!, Mario Kart DS, Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games could be seen among several other Nintendo DS games. Bird & Beans was also featured in this trailer as a downloadable DSiWare game from the Nintendo eShop.

An overview trailer for Super Mario 3D Land was later shown and discussed.

Nintendo Direct (JP, EU) - April 21, 2012 Mario Tennis Open, New Super Mario Bros. 2 This Direct featured a section on Mario Tennis Open which explains various features of the game, such as playing as a Mii and local / online multiplayer. A trailer was shown off afterwards in the European version of the Direct.

New Super Mario Bros. 2 was revealed at the end of the presentation, scheduled for an August 2012 release.

Nintendo Direct Pre E3 2012 - June 3, 2012 This Direct featured a section on the WaraWara Plaza (known then as Mii Wara Wara), a feature of the Wii U. Renders of Mario, Yoshi, Boo, a DK Barrel, and a Super Star are used as placeholders.

New Super Mario Bros. U was used as an example of Miiverse comparability within Wii U games.

Nintendo Direct - June 21, 2012 New Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Land, Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 This Direct began with the announcement of the Nintendo 3DS XL which was mentioned to release the same day as the North American release date for New Super Mario Bros. 2. Gameplay from New Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 are also used in this segment.

New Super Mario Bros. 2 is briefly discussed before a trailer is shown, highlighting new mechanics to the game such as Gold Rings, Gold Blocks, the Gold Flower, and Coin Rush mode.

Later on, Super Mario Land and Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 was announced to be coming to Nintendo 3DS via Virtual Console.

Nintendo Direct (JP) - August 29, 2012 New Super Mario Bros. 2, Paper Mario: Sticker Star This Direct featured a segment on New Super Mario Bros. 2 and showcased the Worldwide Coin Total of 57,629,071,258 coins as of August 27, 2012. Afterwards, a video was teased about "Coin Rush techniques" from the game's developers. This video played immediately after the Direct ended.

More information about Paper Mario: Sticker Star was also shared, with a scheduled release by the end of 2012.

Nintendo Direct - Wii U Preview (EU) - September 13, 2012 New Super Mario Bros. U This Direct mainly took place at the office of the former Nintendo of Europe president, Satoru Shibata's office at the Nintendo of Europe headquarters in Frankfort, Germany. This room features a poster for New Super Mario Bros. 2 and figurines of a Goomba and a Shell Cup trophy.

Box art for Mario Party 9, Mario Sports Mix, and New Super Mario Bros. Wii were seen when Wii compatible games for the Wii U are listed.

Nintendo Land was then highlighted, with mentions of Mario Chase, Luigi's Ghost Mansion, Yoshi's Fruit Cart, and Donkey Kong's Crash Course.

Later on, New Super Mario Bros. U was spotlighted as a launch game for the Wii U and highlights various features to the game like Boost Mode and the ability to play as your Mii.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Wii U Edition could be seen in a sizzle reel where a Mega Mushroom is being collected in the middle of a battle, along with Mario and Luigi costumes that can be worn in-game.

Game & Wario is later noted in a list of Wii U games releasing near its launch window.
