The Thousand-Year Door description A mystical stone shaped like the sun.

The Sun Stone is a stone shaped like the sun that appears in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. Along with the Moon Stone, Mario needs the Sun Stone to gain access to Hooktail Castle. Both the Sun Stone and the Moon Stone are located in Shhwonk Fortress and are protected by Fuzzies.

In the GameCube version, Mayor Kroop refers to the Sun Stone and the Moon Stone collectively as stone keys. In the Switch remake, they are collectively referred to as the Sun and Moon Stones.
