Little Mac
Template:Character-infobox Template:LLQuote
Little Mac is a human boxer of the World Video Boxing Assoc. (or W.V.B.A.) from the Bronx, and the protagonist of the Punch-Out!! series. He has had various crossover encounters with Mario and other characters from the Mario series.
History
Punch-Out!! series
The original protagonist of the arcade Punch-Out!! and Super Punch-Out!! titles fought several fighters for the world championship, and was shown as a green haired wireframe model during gameplay. The name "Little Mac" did not appear until Punch-Out!! for the NES (also known as Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!), which also introduced his manager and trainer, Doc Louis. In Super Punch-Out!! for the SNES, his design was replaced with an unnamed blond character. In Punch-Out!! for the Wii, all the playable characters of the series were retroactively considered Little Mac. After fighting through all of his opponents once again, Mac gets tired of the fame and decides to go out in a blaze of glory (dubbed "Mac's Last Stand"), where his condition is three losses until he retires and gives up the belt. In the latest title so far, Doc Louis's Punch-Out, he spars with Doc.
WarioWare series
WarioWare: Smooth Moves
WarioWare: Smooth Moves features a microgame called "Punch-Out!!" based on the game of the same name. In it, Mac knocks out his opponent (who changes depending on the difficulty), and the player, as Mario, has to count down the KO. Mac cheers if the count reaches ten in time.
WarioWare: D.I.Y. Showcase
In the microgame Punch-Out!! in WarioWare: D.I.Y. Showcase, Mac, controlled by the player, has to dodge his opponent's attacks. If all of the attacks are dodged, Mac knocks him out, while getting hit results in Mac getting knocked out.
Super Smash Bros. series
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Little Mac appears in Super Smash Bros. Brawl as an Assist Trophy. Once he appears, he punches the enemies in rapid succession while moving quickly around the stage. After a while, he delivers one final blow that launches enemies far before disappearing. He is invulnerable, though he can still disappear by falling off the stage.
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U
- Main article: SmashWiki:Little Mac (SSB4)
Little Mac appears as a new playable character in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U, revealed on February 13, 2014[1] and taking his appearance from that in the Wii Punch-Out!!. Little Mac is a close range fighter, most of his moves being various punches. Although he is a fast and strong fighter when grounded, he is far weaker when in the air, as his attack power drastically decreases, and his jumping and recovery ability is poor. In addition, Little Mac uniquely has a Power Meter that charges whenever he attacks and is attacked. When the meter is fully charged, it changes his neutral special attack to a powerful "one-hit-KO" uppercut.[2]
Little Mac's neutral special is the Straight Lunge, which causes him to wind up a punch that sends him flying forward. His side special is the Jolt Haymaker, in which he leaps forward to deliver a punch. His down special is the Slip Counter, in which he feints being hit and immediately delivers a counterattack. His up special is the Rising Uppercut, in which he leaps into the air with a series of punches. Little Mac's Final Smash turns him into Giga Mac, increasing his attack power and allowing him to not flinch, similar to Giga Bowser.
One of Little Mac's alternate costumes is based on his appearance in Title Defense mode in the Wii Punch-Out!!, another is based on his Major Circuit costume from the same game, a third is based on his Contender mode outfit, yet another is his appearance after beating an opponent the NES Punch-Out!!, and another is based on the player 2 character in the Wii Punch-Out!!'s Head-to-Head mode. Another one of his costumes is based on his appearance in Super Punch-Out!!, and the last one is his pink sweatsuit from Punch-Out!! for the NES. In addition, Little Mac also has "wireframe" variants of all his alternate costumes, based upon his appearance in the original Punch-Out!! arcade game; while most remain the same with the exception of Little Mac's body being wireframe, the sweatsuit is changed to being green, while the boxing gloves are made pink.
The overweight Little Mac from Captain Rainbow also appears as a trophy in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.[3] If Little Mac wins a match, Doc Louis occasionally appears alongside him on the results screen.
Captain Rainbow
In Captain Rainbow, Little Mac has been out of work for some time and has become largely obese due to the events of the game. The game's protagonist, Nick, helps him get back into shape. This appearance shows up as a trophy in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.
NES Remix 2
In NES Remix 2, Little Mac makes an appearance in several mini-games based on the original Punch-Out!! game. They all involve Mac beating various opponents with different restrictions, like knocking out Von Kaiser with an uppercut, blocking Great Tiger's attacks while the screen fades out, or beating a powerful Glass Joe.

Palutena's Guidance
- Pit: This guy looks ready to fight!
- Viridi: That's Little Mac. As a boxer, fighting is sort of his thing. No one can match his strength on the ground, but in an aerial battle, he's helpless.
- Palutena: So you want to get him in the air, and keep him from landing.
- Viridi: He has a power meter that, once full, lets him unleash a lethal attack.
- Pit: He seems tiny, though...
- Viridi: Maybe that's why he's LITTLE Mac. But even with his small stature, he's triumphed over many heavyweight boxers. Pretty impressive for a puny HUMAN.
- Pit: Bring it on! The stronger the opponent, the more interesting the fight!
- Viridi: That's the spirit!
- Pit: Uh, I can keep using my weapons, right?
- Viridi: Ugh! Yes...
