The Spring Mushroom is a new Item in Super Mario Galaxy, that Mario will first find in the Toy Time Galaxy and later during the Matter Splatter Galaxy and the Beach Bowl Galaxy's Purple Coin challenge. It will make Mario become Spring Mario, in this form he will be able to jump higher, and will no longer be able to run, instead he will simply bounce around levels. Using this new Item, Mario will be able to reach Items hidden in the air. He will automatically wall jump when he hits a wall. When Spring Mario uses a Launch Star or Sling Star, takes damage, or touches water, he will return to normal.
