The Bowser Nightmare board.
Bowser's Nightmare.

Bowser Nightmare is the largest board in Mario Party 5. It was created from Bowser's wicked dreams.

It is surrounded by a sea of lava, and Bowser was always there when players landed on ? Spaces to make their lives miserable. The ? Spaces at the bottom-left and bottom-right sides caused Bowser to come out for a walk to the other side. During his stroll, he turns all Blue Spaces in his path into Red Spaces, and crushes anyone in his way, making them lose 10 coins. The ? Space on the top-left and top-right sides of the board caused Bowser to appear on his Koopa Clown Car, where he forced the player to hit a red block or a blue block. One of them sent the player back to start, and the other took away half the player's coins. The ? Space at the top of the board caused Bowser to appear and take control of a flamethrower cannon. Players that were near the flamethrower got burned and lost their capsules. The two ? Spaces near the circle at the center of the board took players in the circle (via red Warp Pipe), where there were red spaces, and Bowser Spaces (Bowser appeared for a moment just to taunt them). The two ? Spaces inside the circle took players out of there (this is similar to the Mecha-Blooper ride from Bowser Land of Mario Party 2).

In Story Mode, Bowser and Koopa Kid were busy creating Bowser Nightmare. But when the player (Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Wario, Daisy, or Waluigi) came to stop them, Bowser made Koopa Kid do the fighting for him. Koopa Kid then split into 3 Koopa Kids: Red K. Kid, Green K. Kid, and Blue K. Kid. But the player defeated all three of them, and they turned back into the one Koopa Kid. He escaped, but Bowser stayed to challenge the player to the last battle. This battle took place on a simplified version of Bowser Nightmare. If the player defeated Bowser, the full version of Bowser Nightmare would be playable in Party Mode.
