The Bob-omb Buddies are recurring allies to Mario of the Bob-omb species. They can be differentiated from the foes by their distinct pink (sometimes red) color. In their first appearance, Super Mario 64, the Bob-omb Buddies helped Mario by opening cannons for him (but are peace loving bob-ombs), and were shown to have a longstanding rivalry with the evil Bob-ombs, as this was the first time both groups were at war.
The Bob-omb Buddies also appeared as aides in the Mario Party games, as well as the Super Mario 64 remake. Their most recent appearances were in Mini-games in New Super Mario Bros.
