Super Mario Galaxy is the newest sequel to the series of Mario's 3-D adventures, and also the non-spinoff series; another name for the series of Mario adventures. It is also known as the "true sequel" to Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine.
Super Mario Galaxy, unlike other Mario games, takes place in outer space. The game's levels consist of many planets, some big and some small, some flat and some round, therefor, of what we know, the game is just one big level with no loading screens or boss warnings, and no indication of what you're up against; more specifically, what's coming next.
For some odd reason, many of the enemies-ad all three of the known bosses-have tube-like mouths that resemble Snifits.
Story
Not much is known about the story yet. Princess Peach gets captured by a creature from another planets and brings her out into outer space, and Mario must follow it to the galaxy and explore worlds and battle monsters he's never seen before.
Unique Features
Super Mario Galaxy has many bran-new features that no Mario game has ever had in Nintendo history. One of which is the Star Cursor. With the Wiimote, the player can shake it and make Mario do a spin. Not a Spin Jump, just a quick spin, conjecturally; Star Spin.
The game features new items like the Boost Star, which allows Mario to launch off of a planet and go flying to the next. As stated before, there is no warning that a boss might be coming on the planet, no indication that you may be facing something terrible or something peaceful on where you're headed next, and no loading screens or mission select for levels.
Another incredible features is the bosses. Mr. Miyamoto has given the game incredible alien bosses; a giant three-eyed spider with wings, a huge mechanical three-legged robot, and an Octo resembling, Gooper Blooper-like lava octopus.
New enemies have come into the game too, like the Astro Snifits, or the Cosmic Bullet Bills. However, Mario meets new friends too, like Cosmic Toads and Space Rabbits. Stars make a comeback, leaving Shine Sprites in the dust with their new orange-golden shine.
Fan Quotes
"I hope it isn't too much like Super Mario Sunshine..."
"Too different, I wish they could just keep it simple and have Mario save Peach in the Mushroom Kingdom like in the old days. Shiggy's going too far."
"Simply beautiful."
"Looks nothing like any game I've ever seen!"
"Should've been on the gamecube, two player cooperative sounds weird."
"This game is out of this world!"
New Bosses
Three known bosses have been playable for the game in the e3 demo. A large Snifit-like robot, a giant Octo-like Blooper king, and a giant alien Spider. See their articles:
