Big Ape City

Big Ape City is the name of the final area ventured through in the game Donkey Kong Land.

Whereas most places on Donkey Kong Island are almost untouched by modern civilization, Big Ape City is a large urban area. Along with having several apartment complexes and office buildings. Big Ape City also has a large blimp in it where King K. Rool is fought. There is also a large construction site in the city.

Trivia

  • A snippet from the game's manual seems to state that this is, indeed the place where Pauline was kidnapped, or at least something like it. As the manual says: "Travel by zeppelin to Donkey Kong's favorite stomping ground, Big Ape City. The sight of that familiar skyline might bring back fond memories, but don't waste your time sightseeing when there are Kremlings around!".
  • The setting of the mini-game Trampoline Time bears some resemblance to Big Ape City, and may take place here.
  • The name "Big Ape City" also comes from "The Big Apple", a nickname for New York City.
