Gobblegut's Aching Belly is the first mission of Bowser Jr.'s Fiery Flotilla in Super Mario Galaxy 2. The mission's objective is to navigate the flotilla and defeat Gobblegut.
Layout
The player starts on a wooden pathway with some Goombeetles, which leads into a multicolored path with a Thwomp and a Magikoopa. At the end of the path is a Lever Switch that will open a large gate which activated. Beyond it are a couple of Dry Bones and a Sling Star that sends the player up to the lava planet above. The lava planet has many Dry Bones and rotating Fire Bars all situated on a stone path over lava. At the end of the path is a Launch Star that will send the player to Gobblegut's Planet. Upon landing on the planet, Bowser Jr. will appear and call up Gobblegut, who will begin circling the small planetoid.
Gobblegut will circle above the planet and attempt to ram into the player. When Gobblegut makes a train-whistle noise, it will start to dig through the planet. The bellyache bulges on Gobblegut will get stuck for a short time as they try to move through the planet, allowing the player to spin into them and damage Gobblegut. However, as the player is attempting to spin into Gobblegut, he will come after the player and damage them if Gobblegut comes into contact. Once half of the bulges are destroyed, Gobblegut will turn red and start moving faster. When all of the bulges are destroyed, Gobblegut will circle the planet and explode, dropping the Toad.
