Attack FX R is a badge in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. The badge costs 0 Badge Points to equip, and when equipped changes the sound effects of Mario's Jump and Hammer attacks, though the sound and function differs between the original game and the Nintendo Switch remake. If multiple Attack FX badges are equipped, the sound effects play one at a time.
In the Nintendo GameCube version, it can be found in Hooktail Castle, inside a jail cell accessible by using Mario's paper form. The badge costs 0 Badge Points to equip, and when equipped changes the sound effects of Mario's Jump and Hammer attacks to the sound of a Japanese tree frog. In the English localization of the game, the sound effect is described as being that of a cricket chirp, due to the sound being based on a species of frog not found in Western countries. The badge also has an additional effect during the battle with Hooktail; each time an attack is performed that plays the sound effect, her Attack and Defense will decrease by 1, but cannot go lower than a minimum of 1 and 0 respectively. The badge's existence is alluded to in a letter from Kolorado's father, saying that Hooktail fears something "that begins with 'cr' and ends with 'icket'".
In the Nintendo Switch version, Attack FX G replaces this badge in its location and function, and also plays a more traditional frog sound. Instead, Attack FX R can be purchased from the Lovely Howz of Badges after Chapter 6 for 100 coins. When equipped, it plays the sound of Bowser growling, which in the original game is assigned to Attack FX P.
