The Paint is an item in the PC and SNES releases of Mario's Time Machine. It is stored in a modern paint bucket (despite being obtained by Mario in Florence circa 1503), and it reportedly contains "Renaissance Purple" paint (despite the term "Renaissance" not being coined until long after 1503). Mario receives it from a painter, who offered to give him the Paint in exchange for some Bread. Raphael Sanzio, meanwhile, mentioned that he needed some paint so that he could complete his portrait. Mario can then give the Paint to him, who gratefully receives it and proceeds to answer Mario's questions about Michelangelo Buonarroti and what he has been doing.
