The Beret is an item in the PC and SNES releases of Mario's Time Machine. After Mario travels back in time to Florence, he is given the Beret by Raphael Sanzio, who says that every good artist should wear a beret (despite Mario not claiming to be an artist of any kind). The Beret is then given to an apprentice artist who tells Mario that he is feeling cold. Once the artist receives the beret, he thanks Mario for giving him something to keep his head warm, and in exchange, he gives him Bread and gushes further about Michelangelo Buonarroti's amazing feats.
