The Giant Spider[1] (alternatively known as the Spider[2][3]) is the larger counterpart of Small Spiders and a mini-boss in Donkey Kong 64. It can be fought by Tiny Kong inside the mill of Fungi Forest, but its room is only accessible at night.
The Giant Spider has been described as both a male[4] or female[3][5] spider. As a female, it is suggested to be the mother of the Small Spiders.[3][5]
Battle
The battle starts when Tiny walks on a large spider web below the Giant Spider. The Giant Spider wakes up and drops below its resting spot on the ceiling, dangling from a thin spider web string. It summons three Small Spiders to attack Tiny Kong and goes back to sleep. As the Small Spiders chase Tiny, the Giant Spider spits out red webbing or green phlegm. Tiny must avoid both, as they either trap her in ice or reverse the directions. Since the Giant Spider is asleep, it cannot locate and directly spit at Tiny.
After Tiny defeats the three Small Spiders, the Giant Spider wakes up temporarily. Tiny must go into first-person and shoot at the Giant Spider's opened eye with her Feather Bow. This pattern repeats itself four more times.
After being hit a fifth time, the Giant Spider spins around, falls off its string, and crashes into the wall. It then shrinks into a Small Spider, and Tiny can defeat it like one. After its final hit, the Giant Spider falls on its back and disappears. Tiny is then awarded with a Golden Banana.
