Vine Slimes,[1] also known as Slugs,[2] are slug creatures that crawl up and down vines in the depths of Torrential Maze in Western releases of Yoshi's Story. They are blue and can move their two eyes from one side of their bodies to the other when they reach the end of a vine. Vine Slimes are indestructible and can only be avoided. They appear only in the aforementioned level.

In the original Japanese version, Vine Slimes and their vines do not appear, and the areas where they are found in the international versions instead contain Ghost Streams; the background was not touched up to remove the ghost holes.
