Wario, while he was watching his TV one day, became interested in the show [[The Silver Zephyr]] starring [[Count Cannoli]]. In the episode Wario is seeing, Cannoli is going to go in a ship named the [[S.S. Caviar]], and robbed it. Wario then became jealous, and decided to build an invention: The [[Telmet]] - a helmet that lets Wario go right into the TV.
While channel surfing for treasure leads on a listless day, Wario accidentally stumbles upon the television show starring future rival [[Count Cannoli]], AKA The Silver Zephyr. Although he is quick to insult the show's premise, Wario is secretly extremely jealous of this master thief and the riches he has accumulated. Not to be outdone, Wario dashes off to his secret headquarters (his back room) and constructs the [[Telmet]]! With this new device in tow, and an insatiable lust for treasure, Wario enters the television and makes his big screen debut!

Wario used the helmet and it worked: Wario was able to go in the show! Wario landed on Cannoli, and made him lose his talking wand named [[Goodstyle]]. Wario grabs it, and when Cannoli gets up he orders Wario to giver it back because it was passed down in his family to him. Wario wonders why the wand is so important and Goodstyle explains he can disguise a thief.

Wario then waves Goodstyle and turns into Thief Wario. Wario says that to be a good thief he has to get a cool thief name, and he names himself [[Purple Wind]]. Wario then runs into the ship and gets ready to burgle it.

Wario: Master of Disguise is a platformer game for the Nintendo DS. The Japanese name translates to Mysterious Thief Wario Seven. This game takes WarioWare out of the picture, and brings Wario back to his roots; stealing. It is known in Japan as Kaitou Wario, which means Wario the Seven in English. The title refers to the fact that Wario gets seven disguises in the game, not counting the Thief Wario disguise.

As mentioned before, the game features eight different abilities for Wario -known in this game as "The Purple Wind" (his motto is "Silent, but deadly!")- to use. Thief Wario is quicker than the others and attacks directly. Wicked Wario can fly. Cosmic Wario shoots a laser and has floaty jumps. Arty Wario can draw doors and crates. Genius Wario can make mechanical objects like his boxing glove and can see invisible objects. Sparky Wario can make electricity. Captain Wario can go though water and even lava. Dragon Wario breathes fire.

Along with platforming, there are also mini-games (much like WarioWare) that must be beaten to win treasure. These include a sliding puzzle, connect the dots, matching, exterminating cockroaches, and several others.

Titles

As Wario acquires more treasure in episodes, he gains a different title, or rank every time the total amount of money exceeds a certain amount.

  • over £50,000="Dabbler of Disguise"
  • over £100,000="Student of Disguise"
  • over £200,000="Champion of Disguise"
  • over £400,000="Paragon of Disguise"
  • over £700,000="Master of Disguise"
  • over £850,000="Mighty Master of Disguise"

There will also be a Wario statue that appears in the TV room for every title acquired as well, as well as extra statues on top of the TV for collecting all the treasure and killing at least one of each enemy, so that they are listed in Wario's notebook. In addition, collecting all the treasure gives the player a notebook with pink pages instead of yellow, and a medal with a stretched W on it appears in the bottom left corner of each page.
