Bear is the lone Brothers Bear representative of Donkey Kong Land III. He strongly resembles Bazaar, and is the only Brothers Bear absent from Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!. However, the game's instruction booklet and Nintendo Power coverage refer to Bear as "the Brothers Bear"[1][2][3]. This implies that Bear is not a separate character, but a generic stand-in for the Brothers Bear.
Overview
Bear operates his own cabin, the Sheepy Shop, in every world, including the Lost World. When Dixie Kong and Kiddy Kong enter his location, he provides them with a few options: the first one is to play the card game Memory, the second is a level hint, and lastly to teleport the Kongs to the main world map. He substitutes the typical role of Cranky and Funky Kong for the second and third options respectively.
If the Kongs win at Memory, Bear gives them various items, such as Banana Bunches, Extra Life Balloons, DK Coins, and bear coins. If they first win, the Kongs will receive a Watch.
Bear is fully animated in the original Game Boy version, but was reduced to a single frame in the Japanese Game Boy Color port.
