Massive Canyon is the seventh level of Donkey Kong Jungle Beat and the first area of the Apple Kingdom. The level takes place in a deep, dark canyon. Donkey Kong uses his Wall Jump ability to reach inaccessible areas. He also uses Banandelions to fire himself to different areas. Helper Monkeys aid Donkey Kong throughout this stage as well, throwing him to the end of the level. Many uncommon objects return in this level, such as mushrooms that grow when a sound wave is sent at them. Before completing the level, Donkey Kong also fights a Gōrumondo impeding his progress.
Level layout
This level starts out in a dark cave. Much of the beginning is simply a straight pathway, and there are some bananas around it. Many Bakkies also flood the roof of this cave. As Donkey Kong travels farther into the cave, he encounters some heavy rocks rolling towards him. He must jump over them to avoid being damaged. Near the cave's exit is a Gale Hawg, who blocks the path of Donkey Kong. Once it is defeated, the ape can find a wall to climb up with a Wall Jump. Mushrooms also fill this part of the cave, and if the Kong sends a sound wave at them, they grow large very quickly. Donkey Kong climbs his way out of the remaining part of the cave, with the help of a few Helper Monkeys and his wall jumping abilities.
There are Karikari around the cave's exit, as well as some more Helper Monkeys. The monkeys throw Donkey Kong to a Banandelion, which flings him to another on a far-away platform to the right. This Banandelion shoots him to a Helper Monkey, who helps the ape progress more by throwing him to a third Banandelion. Another Helper Monkey and Banandelion follow after these, and the ape is soon sent to a wall, which he must climb with his wall jumping abilities. Once he makes his way to the top, he meets the level's mini-boss, who is a Gōrumondo. After it is defeated, a giant apple appears on a nearby tree branch. If Donkey Kong bites into it, the level ends. To the right of the tree, there is a spot with some hidden bananas, which can be unearthed by clapping.
