Confetti is a mechanic used in Paper Mario: The Origami King. Its purpose is to repair Not-Bottomless Holes scattered throughout the game, similar to the Paint Hammer repainting colorless spots in Paper Mario: Color Splash.
Mario obtains the Confetti Bag from Olivia when they land in Whispering Woods after escaping from Peach's Castle. Confetti can be thrown by pressing or and is thrown in the direction Mario is facing. Mario has a limited supply of confetti, shown with a bag in the top left corner of the screen. When the bag flashes green, it is full, and when it flashes red, it is empty. Mario can collect more confetti by hitting certain environments in the overworld with his hammer or defeating enemies. Additionally, the maximum confetti capacity will be increased when Mario destroys a streamer.
There are two accessories which have effects with confetti. The Confetti Vacuum allows Mario to collect confetti from even further away, and the Petal Bag turns the confetti Mario throws into pink flower petals.
Confetti is only used up if it lands in a Not-Bottomless Hole. Confetti that lands outside will be retained, which effectively makes confetti impossible to use up after all Not-Bottomless Holes in the game are repaired.
