Amiibo

I know that speculating is generally frowned upon, but isn't it safe to assume that Diddy Kong will be playable since his amiibo has been confirmed to be compatible with the game? User:FireFlower

It hasn't exactly been confirmed what the amiibo will do yet, though. MarioComix (talk) 01:39, 17 June 2016 (EDT)
Actaully, that didn't occur to me, but with that said, how can we be certain that all the amiibos listed on the talk page, in particularly Diddy Kong's, are compatible with the game? User:FireFlower
There is no rush for this. We'll get all the information we need eventually. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 20:07, 18 June 2016 (EDT)
Hopefully we get info on this game a bit more as soon as the next trailer comes out User:UnknownAnything

Spaghetti box art

I have heard from many sources that the Mario Party Star Rush pre-production box art is in fact based off the art on a tin of Mario spaghetti. This seems reasonable as many pictures have been used to supply proof. Surely this is trivia we can use? Even when the game is actually released, it can still count as trivia, even if the box art is different. Should I add it?

Quizmelon

If there were some element to it that shows that this was intentionally shared artwork, then I think it would deserve to be added to the article. Alas, I have yet to see such proof. MarioComix (talk) 04:13, 19 June 2016 (EDT)

Here's the proof: http://gonintendo.com/stories/259569-random-time-mario-party-star-rush-boxart-comes-from-a-spaghet
I don't know if the Spaghetti one came first before the Simon Mall promo event.

Otherwise this artwork is a stock Super Mario artwork used for promotions.Infinite8 09:54, 19 June 2016 (EDT)

The artwork is used as early as a 2013 calendar, I wouldn't add what gonintendo said as a source. BabyLuigiFire.pngRay Trace(T|C) 12:51, 19 June 2016 (EDT)
Nope, whoever wrote that article didn't do any prior research in a galling attempt to generate clicks and mislead the readers. Do not use this source. If this misinformation gets widespread enough, we'll have to add it to the List of rumors and urban legends about Mario article. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. I added it. My breaking point was our own MarioWiki Twitter (second link is the one the Twitter retweeted), and simply typing "mario party: star rush spaghettios" generated more than enough hits for this misconception to deserve an entry on that page. Toad's Status as a Playable Character

Has it been confirmed yet if the solidified Toad character who re-occurs will be appearing, or has it only been the multi-colored ones that have been confirmed? User:FireFlower

Toad did appear in Mario Party 5 as a playable character so, he could return for Star Rush.AfternoonLight (talk)

New Mode, Boards

Worlds contain three boards each. A new mode called "Character Museum" was spotted.

Stars/Ztars to reappear?

It looks like judging by the cover art Stars and Ztars might reappear? If they will, that'd be cool (considering I'd much rather see the old system than the current one involving Mini Stars and Mini Ztars). McDonalds1 (talk) 21:28, 9 July 2016 (EDT)

We had a Star for artwork in Mario Party 9. It doesn't necessarily mean we'll see Ztars, much less the old system. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 17:56, 10 July 2016 (EDT)

Diddy Kong

He's on the newly released boxart and should be added to the character list under "Unknown" alongside Petey and Dry bones.

Character roster

Here's the possible character roster: http://mariopartylegacy.com/2016/08/character-select-screen-spotted-for-mario-party-star-rush/, looks like that Rosalina, Donkey Kong, Toadette and possibily Diddy Kong will be unlockable. User:PrincessDaisyForever

Artwork

New artwork for star rush is available for King Boo and others. It also confirms Bowser Jr. is in the game (most likely as a boss).

Coinathlon vs. Coin Chaos

While in the final game the NA version may adopt "Coin Chaos", there is an official US source that still uses "Coinathlon". On the game's US overview site, in the "Overview" section, after clicking "Read more", there is a point there saying: "Race around a game board, competing in a rapid-fire minigame gauntlet while sabotaging your friends in Coinathlon". While one may prefer to use "Coin Chaos" since it's an official name used in the final version of an English-language game, I would prefer to think that "Coinathlon" is more appropriate to use. MarioComix (talk) 01:07, 29 September 2016 (EDT)

Well, if you go to this link; https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Games/Nintendo-3DS/Mario-Party-Star-Rush-1114009.html#Other_modes; you'll see that the European Other modes section names the Coinathlon mode Coinathlon. The term "Coin Chaos" may be used for the Minigames menu. Just saying. – Owencrazyboy9 (talk) 00:01, 30 September 2016 (EDT)
Hm, that's a good point. Then "Coin Chaos" is more appropriate for the Minigames subsection. MarioComix (talk) 02:10, 30 September 2016 (EDT)

Unlockable Game Modes?

are the game modes unlockable?
The preceding unsigned comment was added by 72.240.19.231 (talk).

Yes they are. You have to reach levels by gaining points from playing the game to unlock them. See Mario Party: Star Rush#Level up system BabyLuigiFire.pngRay Trace(T|C) 16:18, 6 November 2016 (EST)

Star Rush

In this game if you get enough stars, you will get a Star Rush. This should be part of a new article, but I am not sure if I should replace the redirect or create a different page called Star Rush (Event) and have the redirect changed to a disambiguation page. Red Yoshi in a construction hat walking Yoshi the SSM (talk) 19:21, 28 November 2016 (EST)

I don't think the term is that meaningful in terms of gameplay to warrant its own article. It's just...something the game says when you get a lot of stars and it adds a little button next to the maps. That's pretty much all it does. BabyLuigiFire.pngRay Trace(T|C) 19:54, 28 November 2016 (EST)
It isn't just a thing when you get a certain amount of stars and that add a little button to the maps. There are different levels of Star Rush (I have only experience Star Rush and Super Star Rush in game, but I do think there is at least one more level) and depending on the settings, the number of stars changes. It should be done at least somewhere whether it is a separate article or part of this article. Red Yoshi in a construction hat walking Yoshi the SSM (talk) 20:46, 28 November 2016 (EST)
I think it works fine to be listed as part of this page, along with the amount of stars it takes to achieve both. There are only two types of it. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 20:52, 28 November 2016 (EST)
Ninja'd by Zooks: Yeah but I still think it's a minor thing to be accomplished. By the way, I don't think there's a level above Super Star Rush, I've gotten as much as 20 stars and still haven't gotten it. Maps may have different Star Rush requirements but I feel that belongs on each respective map article. I really think an article on Star Rush is almost as valid as, say, Superstar or getting articles on Stars in the Mario Kart games. BabyLuigiFire.pngRay Trace(T|C) 20:53, 28 November 2016 (EST)
It would only work for Toad Scramble. For Balloon Bash, I think it would be best to put it on that article instead of the three boards of that mode. We should wait for more users filling in on this before we start putting it on the articles. I am also quite busy for the next two weeks approximately. Red Yoshi in a construction hat walking Yoshi the SSM (talk) 21:04, 28 November 2016 (EST)

The separate modes do not get their own articles.

Ok (directed primarily at 3D Player 2010 (talk)) , so I keep reverting edits because some people (cough3DPlayer2010coughcough)think Toad Scramble, Coinathlon, Boo's Block Bash, etc. deserve to get their own articles. I firmly don't, and I'll explain why. First of all, your comparisons are very weak. Lab Brats for starters is a selectable minigame in the minigame mode alongside the other rare minigames like Seer Terror, Dunk Bros., so that's the reason it gets its own article. Super Duel Mode is far more in-depth and plays a lot differently than any mode of this game, and the only reason it got an article compared to Coinathlon because it has its own set of unlockables, maps, stats, and well, tons of separate content in this mode that can easily make it into a designated article without bloating the page up. Here, Boo's Block Party is a simple side mode in a similar vein to the side minigame games like Treetop Bingo, Battle Bridge, etc and it doesn't have enough content in it to justify its own article without being redundant or information that can be easily stated in this article. For Beach Volley Folley, it's in a similar situation as Super Duel Mode, but it has appeared in more than one game as well as being classified as a minigame rather than its own mode like Coinathlon. All modes easily fit in this article: Toad Scramble is the main meat of the game and the article should cover it without splitting things up. Coinathlon isn't a hard-to-understand mode with tons and tons of its own content, its analogous to Balloon Battle from the Mario Kart games. Balloon Bash plays very similarly to Toad Scramble except there's a different goal and some slightly different mechanics here and there. Rhythm Recital is in the same situation as Coinathlon, it doesn't have enough separate content in there to justify its own article, just like the minigame side modes in Minigame Modes in earlier Mario Parties. Challenge Tower can fit in this article too, everything that is needed to be said about Challenge Tower, this article covers. Hell, the rest of the modes are like that: everything that needs to be said can be said in the Gameplay section of this article and it doesn't look too overly bloated. The only mode that got its own article was the Character Museum, and for good reasons too, because it's a collectible list thing of the game like the Star Bank or something like that.

Finally, if you really think they deserve their own articles, put more effort in linking the modes in the first place in this article instead of lazily tying all links to the single level-up table. Doing that gives me the impression that you haven't thought this through enough. BabyLuigiFire.pngRay Trace(T|C) 21:44, 3 December 2016 (EST)

just for the record

the amiibo functionality for challenge tower should be changed to say you can use the same amiibo only once per day. if you have more than one, say, mario amiibo (which i do), you can use each of them once in a day.
The preceding unsigned comment was added by ‎73.147.234.34 (talk).

Thanks for the info, it has been included. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 16:12, 14 February 2017 (EST)
...that's not what I meant (or even said). In different modes, you can use the same amiibo multiple times in a day. However, in Challenge Tower SPECIFICALLY, you can only use any given amiibo once per day. Right now, the page says under Challenge Tower's amiibo compatibility that you cannot use the same CHARACTER more than once per day, but that's not true - if you have more than one amiibo of any given character, you can use that character multiple times, but each amiibo only once.
Example: I own a Rosalina amiibo and two different Mario amiibo. I play Toad Scramble and scan in Rosalina. I then play a round of Challenge Tower as Toadette. When she dies, I scan in one of my Mario amiibo, but he dies, too. So I scan in my other Mario amiibo, and he picks up where the last Mario left off, but when he dies, neither Mario amiibo will work anymore. After this, I go back to Toad Scramble and scan in Rosalina again, who works perfectly fine.
Yeah, I got that info off the main site. I know exactly what you're talking about. Added information there. BabyLuigiFire.pngRay Trace(T|C) 17:20, 14 February 2017 (EST)
Sorry. I must've skipped over the Challenge Tower part (you know, a key point of information). Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 17:22, 14 February 2017 (EST)

Mario Shuffle

Mario shuffle uses cardboard pieces, not Amiibos... Can you change it? I'm to busy... User:Mario Kart 7 Rules (talk edits) 10:14, 19 March 2017 (EDT)

If you scan a compatible amiibo, you can use amiibo pieces in the game. If you don't, you get stuck with a cardboard piece. – Owencrazyboy9 (talk) 10:48, 19 March 2017 (EDT)
And by the way, the cardboard piece instead of amiibo thing is already mentioned on the page. – Owencrazyboy9 (talk) 10:51, 19 March 2017 (EDT)
The image in the page already illustrates why this information is correct. BabyLuigiFire.pngRay Trace(T|C) 15:02, 19 March 2017 (EDT)

AI doesn't pick luck-based minigames

Hey! After countless hours of playing, I've noticed the AI never picks the following mini-games: Greedy Eats, Conkdor de Force, Fruit or Foe I was thinking about sharing this information but it might just be pure coincidental (So tell me if the AI already picked one of those three minigames) and wasn't sure where to put it so I'm telling this thing I've noticed here. Spongyoshi (talk) 06:44, 25 April 2018 (EDT)

I own the game, and I too have noticed this (though not to the same extent). Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 08:01, 25 April 2018 (EDT)
Conkdor de Force I have seen the AI pick on occasion, but never the other two. Natnew (talk) 23:18, 10 September 2018 (EDT)
Did it pick it in single-player or where there other human players playing with you? Spongyoshi (talk) 09:30, 25 October 2018 (EDT)

Bonus Coins Text Error

I'm not entirely sure WHY this is the case, but in Toad Scramble, the "Item Bonus" does NOT track how many items are used; it tracks how many character-specific items (flowers, crystals, barrels, etc.) the player has opened (The game uses the term "collected"). I figured this out when I got said bonus despite the fact that I only received one item throughout the entire course of the game- and I didn't just forget, as the game gave me the item tutorial ON THE FOLLOWING GAME (meaning I never got a chance to use one during that game) (Also, I'm certain P3 got a golden mushroom turn 1). And again, I was credited with it. But I did, however, open a flower with Toadette that round, and was the only one to do so. I think the description was worded poorly on the ingame star, as the flowers/crystals/etc. don't have an official name. I don't have footage, unfortunately. Natnew (talk) 16:00, 3 September 2018 (EDT)

Update: OK, Can confirm regular item collection does affect this star. But I'm still convinced opening flowers/barrels/rocks/fruit/crystals counts as well. Natnew (talk) 23:18, 10 September 2018 (EDT)

Bowser's Coinathlon minigames

Those coinathon minigames where you have to survive Bowser pelting you with attacks... well, I've noticed something about them. It says here that they "happen on random intervals in longer sessions". But I've noticed that when someone enters the third lap on a five-lap game or the fifth lap on a seven lap game, once the minigame in which it happened ends and the bonus coins are distributed, the warning comes that Bowser is about to play his minigame with you. And when the next minigame is over, Bowser arrives does whatever cruelty he decides to do that game. That isn't random at all. So I was wondering if someone could confirm this, and if it comes out true, if we could change things, because this could also be just me. Broque (talk) 20:34, June 21, 2021 (EDT)
