A Life Shroom is an item found in the Paper Mario series. Whenever Mario (or his partner in Thousand-Year Door) is defeated in battle, the Life Shroom will revive the character and return 10 HP to him or her. In Paper Mario, they first appeared in the Boo's Mansion at Igor's shop. Later on they appeared in both ? Blocks and in the shop in Star Haven. The second item Mario can from Rip Cheato will be a Life Shroom. They're also left by Li'l Oinks that are orange and have white spots. In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, the item can be bought for 40 coins in Twilight Town and for 50 coins at Westside Goods. One is in Hooktail Castle, Twilight Trail, and given away as a shopping prize when you reach 150 points. Life Shrooms are also found in ? Blocks later in the game.
The simplest items in the game can make Life Shrooms, so Mario should stock up on the useless flora because they'll pay off later.
They reappear in Super Paper Mario, but only recover 5 HP when Mario, Peach, Bowser or Luigi falls. But there is a side-effect. Sometimes Mario, Peach, Bowser or Luigi might die from it.
They also appear in Super Mario Galaxy however unlike in the Paper Mario games, here it works very different. When Mario collects one, his life energy will go from three to six. However after he takes damage three times without healing, this effect will go off.
