Aboutfile

Hello, Metalex123. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly use the {{aboutfile}} template. What you were doing looks like this, and it is an inconvenience for other users to fix up the template. It is simple to learn how to format it correctly. The pre-loaded syntax is shown below.

{{aboutfile
|1=Subject of the image
|2=Where you found the image
|3=Artist
|4=Describe edits, if any
|5=Other versions (use file link)
}}

Just replace the necessary parts with that corresponding information, and remove the entire line for the parameter(s) you don't use. Please consider the above information before uploading more files. If you continue using {{aboutfile}} incorrectly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing.

Just a heads up. If you're not sure what to fill out, just leave it blank. BabyLuigiFire.pngRay Trace(T|C) 17:53, 13 January 2014 (EST)

Recent edits

Hey, recently you've been editing TPPs that have already been settled, you are only allowed to edit them if they are currently being voted on. Yoshi876 (talk)

Ok then, tell me why are Ashley & Red still in the same article if the majority voted that they should be in separate articles? --Metalex123 (talk) 17:51, 27 June 2014 (EDT)
Because of this.--Vommack (talk) 17:53, 27 June 2014 (EDT)
It pays to look through the whole page first before you ask questions! Make this a meaningful lesson! :) Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 19:08, 27 June 2014 (EDT)

Moving page based on Japanese names

Just FYI, the wiki's has an huge problem with properly sourcing names, and as you can tell from the sitenotice, it's something we're trying to fight. Before moving pages to the "official Japanese name" (as you did with several DK64 enemies over the past few days), try finding a source for the name in question. --Glowsquid (talk) 20:50, 9 April 2015 (EDT)

Well then sorry for moving pages to the only "official" name that was shown on the page (for example, the Ghost Book's japanese name was apparently "Cheato". I don't know if it was true or not, but it was the only "official" name shown on the "In other languages" category; same for the other pages I moved.). If I was wrong, then sorry for moving these pages. Sincerely, Metalex123 (talk) 17:31, 10 April 2015 (EDT)

Oh, thanks for that. I'm aware of the old state of Mushroom World, as I voted in the proposal and I was the one who overhauled the page once that proposal passed. I was actually hunting down all Mushroom World links that are used like that and trying to invoke how ridiculous the attempts were to tie Mushroom Kingdom to Donkey Land. It's fine to interpret Mushroom World as Mario's planet and to like the article's old state, but the concept of Mario's planet is insignificant in the eyes of the games and even other media, so that's why we don't cover it. I find the concept of Mario's planet and all interesting too, but it's almost like making articles on something like Mushroom Universe and All worlds, which were articles before. Hey

Hi there, I've noticed you worked hard with the Donkey Kong 64 article, especially when I was aiming to get it featured. I just wanted to thank you for the help. I was thinking about thanking you around the time of the nomination, but it kinda slipped my mind. In any case, thanks for all the help with the article. I don't really know what to say to this, so I'm just going to say this: Thanks Tails! --Metalex123 (talk) 03:15, 7 August 2015 (EDT)

Costume Mario proposal.

I have changed the options and rewritten the proposal on the Costume Mario Sprites. Please Take a look. UserPyroGuy.png (T · C) 10:46, 16 September 2015 (EDT)

Tiny Kong Image You Changed

Three things:

  1. File:Tiny Kong DK64.png is smaller than File:Little_grilTinyKong.gif. I understand that GIF doesn't have all the colors (8-bit) that a PNG can hold (24-bit), but I think the mods would agree that the GIF should continue to be used.
  2. Tag removed images with {{delete}}. You can specify a reason like this: {{delete|[[:File:Tiny Kong DK64.png]]}}
  3. File:Little_grilTinyKong.gif is being used on Gallery:Tiny Kong. Check file usage of each file to make sure you get every page.

Okay, sorry for that then... --Metalex123 (talk) 17:42, 10 February 2016 (EST)
No worries. All is good now. Moderators will now decide the right action to take. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 18:23, 10 February 2016 (EST)
Well I just brought the old picture back and put a {{delete}} on the version I uploaded... --Metalex123 (talk) 16:47, 11 February 2016 (EST)

Your uploads

Hello. When you upload images please make sure to add the correct licensing for the image (found in the dropdown menu) as well as the correct game category (such as [[Category:Mario Power Tennis Images]]).--driftmaster130 (TalkEdits) 15:15, 5 June 2016 (EDT)

Sorry, I forgot to add them... Next time I'll try not to forget. Thanks! --Metalex123 (talk) 15:31, 5 June 2016 (EDT)

Saw you using one of my renders

Remember King Kruiser II? I made that image render you used on there. ^^

Anyways, I just wanted to say that I'm glad you were able to use it. ^-^
I have more, but have no clue how to post them in this wiki. XD --M.E.R.255 (talk) 01:19, 31 October 2016 (EDT)
Wait, you made the King Kruiser render? I didn't know that... I just saw that some DK64 articles were missing some sprites & renders... So I added some renders & sprites from the DK wikia and DKVine... Oh and I could add some of your other renders on this wiki if you want ^_^ --Metalex123 (talk) 15:37, 31 October 2016 (EDT)

Character infoboxes

For character articles with an identifier (e.g. Beanstalk (character)), you need to include the "title" parameter manually otherwise the infobox will include the identifier. Also, don't add the "full name" parameter unless it's different from their "regular" name, as it's completely useless and redundant. Dark BonesSig.png 20:25, 26 August 2018 (EDT)

Oh okay, I'm not completely used to making character infoboxes yet, but I'll try to not making those mistakes again. Thanks for the info! --Metalex123 (talk) 20:28, 26 August 2018 (EDT)

Klap Trap

This is more like Red and Green Koopa Troopas, which are commonly listed as separate in guides. None of those examples you've listed are even remotely comparable, and in fact have some pretty major differences. This is being given a different hue and less weaknesses, and said guide has proven itself to be unreliable at best regarding enemy classification, as I have stated. And no, the only "simple recolor" pages are for specific RPG enemies, like KP Koopas. Platforming enemies like this are against policy to have "simple recolor" pages. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 22:26, 7 September 2018 (EDT)

... Why repost it in my talk page? I don't understand the logic there... --Metalex123 (talk) 22:32, 7 September 2018 (EDT)
Because you weren't responding in a timely enough manner for my tastes, that's why. Goombo is still quite different due to its deliberately different design, which as its name suggests, is more Chibi. "Purple Klaptrap" is a hue realignment that happens to be more hardy. ie, little different from the various Shy Guy colors in Paper Mario: Color Splash. Finding official names

Hi, when you find an official name, like you did with La planète de Donkey Kong, you need to move the corresponding category and its subcategories as well. Thanks! Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 18:28, 17 September 2018 (EDT)

Oh yeah, sorry about that. I had completely forgot to also rename the category... Next time I'll remember, thanks for telling me ^_^ --Metalex123 (talk) 18:36, 17 September 2018 (EDT)

Crash's crappy wikia

I will always love this "overthinking video game biology" thing in the Flytrap article's trivia:
"How the purple water-variant of the Venus Fly Trap has survived is a mystery, expending energy to open and clamp the jaws every 3 seconds would quickly be evolved out."
:P-Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 17:44, April 25, 2019 (EDT)

This is hilariously bad, I love it xD (Hopefully, if a new Crash Wiki is made, this kind of thing won't be included :p) --Metalex123 (talk) 17:55, April 25, 2019 (EDT)

I replaced an image that is used on your sandbox

Hello, I have replaced File:Bowserbattlesmg2.jpg (which is used on your sandbox) with File:Bowser's Gravity Boss.png. I just wanted to let you know because the old image has been deleted, so you may want to change to the new one. Also, Trig Jegman (talk) moved File:The-gigantic-bowser.JPG to File:SMG2 Super Bowser Intro.jpg. (I will also probably replace that image sometime in the next few weeks.) --Super Mario Fan 67 (TCS) 16:13, June 14, 2019 (EDT)

Okay, that's good to know, thanks! I don't really mind if images used on my sandbox are replaced with other ones and they become just red links, because this is just a sandbox page I use to remember templates and (sometimes) put articles that I didn't agree with them being removed (like the Kong Family page). Thanks for telling me though ^_^ --Metalex123 (talk) 17:27, June 15, 2019 (EDT)
I have also moved an image linked on your user page: File:New Nintendo 2DS XL - Front.png to File:New Nintendo 2DS XL Black and Turquoise.png. --Super Mario Fan 67 (TCS) 14:35, July 18, 2019 (EDT)
Again, thank you for telling me, but you don't have to tell me everytime. I don't mind if some pictures I use become red links. Thank you for changing files to better named ones though ^_^ --Metalex123 (talk) 17:07, July 18, 2019 (EDT)

Big Bug

I really don't think "Big Bug" is intended to be the insect's specific name. I think it's just a way to alliterate the minigame title (like what is commonly done with RareWare things and Party game minigames). If anything, it should be fly. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 00:19, December 14, 2019 (EST)

I mean the minigame Beaver Bother calls the Gnawties "Beavers", and the name redirects to the Gnawty page. So with that logic, the name of these flies should be "Big Bugs", with "Flies" as a secondary name due to the Nintendo website calling them that. --Metalex123 (talk) 00:26, December 14, 2019 (EST)
The game only calls them "beavers" to alliterate too. The instruction manual called them by their proper name. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 00:34, December 14, 2019 (EST)
