The player starts at the bottom of a broken flight of stone stairs with two Koopa Paratroopas jumping down and a Lakitu above. After the stairs is a row of ? Blocks followed by a jumping board. Using the jumping board to hit the Brick Block directly above will cause a 1 up Mushroom to appear and begin sliding down the row of Brick Blocks. Next are gaps and Koopa Paratroopas before the first Turtle Cannon of the level, followed by a row of Turtle Cannons and Buzzy Beetles. In the right block of the first group of Brick Blocks after the first Turtl Cannon is a power-up, and in the Brick Block to the right of the floating Turtle Cannon is a Coin Block. After the second pipe ahead are two small platforms in a large gap the player must jump across. The next tall pipe afterward leads to an underground area, which exits out of the pipe immediately afterward.
