Red Bulborbs are common enemies in the the Pikmin series. They inhabit the Distant Planet. Their appearance consists of the body: red ball with white dots, and yellow face with two eye stalks, and small weak legs. In Pikmin, they devour him if he gets close.
They made an appearance alongside different elements from the Pikmin in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, in this game, it acts like the main hazard of the stage Distant Planet: they often appears on the right side of the stage, and consistently opens their mouth. During that time, all players that jumps on it's tongue might be eaten, and then dragged offstage for a KO. Even when it's mouth is closed, landing on it could result in a KO if it decides to go back off the stage with a player on its back. Also on the background of the stage, another Red Bulborb appears alongside a Cloaking Burrow-nit and a flower. In the Final Destination form of Distant Planet of Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, they don't appear from the side.
During Olimar's Final Smash, Olimar enters his spaceship to escape any stage he is currently on while Red Bulborbs are constantly attack all players remaining on the stage racking up damage, before he returns again later.
They also made an additional appearance in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS multiplayer mode, Smash Run. The Bulborb is much smaller than its previous iteration, now being about the correct size compared to Olimar, and can be defeated. However, it is harder to knockback compared to other enemies.

Bulborb | These creatures from the Pikmin series have snail-like protruding eyes, huge mouths, and really bad tempers. They're known for snapping at fighters and trying to trample them underfoot. If you see one in a group of enemies, you should try to take it out fast–it'll shoot off and bounce around, hitting other enemies as it goes! |
