Template:Infobox Mario Party: Island Tour is an upcoming title for the Nintendo 3DS. It is the thirteenth in the main series (seventeenth in Japan) in the Mario Party series and the third installment for a handheld console.

Gameplay[1]

Not much is shown at the moment, but it seems that this Mario Party game uses the traditional independent four player gameplay as opposed to Mario Party 9, except players still hit a six-sided Dice Block numbered 1-6 instead of a Dice Block numbered 1-10 in the first eight installments. Like Mario Party 9, players appear to move along a linear board, though in this game it appears to be a race to the end. However, the Spaces appear similar in function to those from Mario Party 9. It is also shown that the players can use special cards to hinder their opponents, similar to Orbs from previous Mario Party installments. It will also have Local Multiplayer. It has been seen that players may verse shadowy versions of the other playable characters in minigames.[2]

Other

Boards

As the title suggests, the boards are split between various themed islands. Seven gameboards have been confirmed in the game.[1]

Spaces[1]

  • "+3," "+4," and "+5" spaces, most likely allowing the player to advance farther.
  • Card spaces
  • Green Spaces
  • Bowser Spaces
  • Event Spaces - In this game they appear in both blue and red colors, possibly denoting whether the event is beneficial or not.
  • Free-for-All Spaces
  • Piranha Plant spaces
  • Blue and red spaces on Banzai Bill's Mad Mountain indicating safe and dangerous areas.
  • Rocket spaces (appear only on the space board)

Items

Cards

As stated above, the items in this game appear to be cards, most likely obtained from the card spaces also shown. The cards appear to be face-down until used, which reveals the item on it.

  • Bullet Bill - Knocks a selected player back several spaces.
  • Lakitu - Allows the player to steal a card from an opponent.
  • Shy Guy - Unknown, but it is confirmed as Luigi holds some in the box art.

Other

Minigames

There are 81 minigames confirmed.[1]

4-player minigames[1]

  • Fast-Pressing Gunman – A minigame in which players must shoot paintballs at the command target.
  • Space Jump – A minigame taking place above a moon-like planet, where players must jump on several platforms.
  • Treasure Hall – A minigame where players jump into holes to collect diamonds.
  • Ka-Goomba! – A minigame using the AR card functionality of the 3DS involving the players earning points by shooting Goombas; normal ones are worth one point and Gold Goombas are worth three.[13]
  • Slip Not - A minigame in which players must steer a raft down a river while avoiding falling off the track using the 3DS' built-in gyroscope; players who fall off automatically lose the minigame.[14]
  • Buzz a Fuzzy - A minigame where players must aim and shoot darts at Fuzzies. The minigame has three rounds that last 15 seconds.[15]
  • Choicest Voice[16] - A minigame involving players using the Nintendo 3DS microphone to try to copy various character voices (the character voice the player must try to copy is decided by a roulette wheel) in three rounds. The results are judged by a Shy Guy, a Dry Bones, a Koopa Troopa, Birdo, and a Goomba. The winner of the minigame is the player who scores the most points from the judges after all three rounds.[15]
  • Rope a Slope[17] - A minigame involving the players repelling down a cliff, jumping over bushes along the way.
  • Drive for Show[18] - A golfing minigame in which players swipe a ball on the touch screen in the direction of the desired target on the top screen to earn points.
  • Grid Is Good - A puzzle minigame in which players place shapes on a grid over desired point values in ten seconds; players earn no points if a value is selected by two players. The minigame goes for three rounds, and three shapes are provided, one to be used during each round.[19]
  • Mad Ladders[18] - A minigame in which players must climb up a series of ladders, avoiding dead ends and Spiked Balls.
  • Spin the Bubble[18] - A minigame in which players must tilt the 3DS screen to rotate a toy inside a bubble so that it matches the orientation shown on the bottom screen.
  • Match Faker[20]
  • Bumper Thumper[20]
  • Color Correction[20]
  • Sinking Feeling[20] - A minigame that uses the AR card functionality of the 3DS involving the players having to climb a tower above a pool of lava; players must climb the tower, using the 3DS to control the camera as the tower sinks into the lava.[21].
  • Xylophone Home[22]
  • A minigame in which players must ground pound lit sections on a cube floating in space.
  • A sliding puzzle game in which players must rearrange tiles to form the correct image.
  • A minigame in which players must roll around on a drum collecting musical notes.
  • A minigame that has players drawing images of various enemies shown on the top screen on the touch screen.
  • A minigame that features players racing against each other on sleds.
  • A puzzle game featuring players lining up various icons of items to get matches.
  • A minigame resembling Parachutin' Gallery, featuring players diving from above and shoving each other aside to land on several blocks below.
  • A minigame that has players fishing Cheep-Cheeps.
  • A minigame where players must catch Goombas with lassos.
  • A minigame where players use hang gliders to pop balloons.[23]
  • A minigame where players race against each other with bumper balls.
  • A minigame where players are skating avoiding a block-paved road, while avoiding Snake Panel walls.[21]
  • A minigame where players are piloting submarines while avoiding stalks of rocks.[21]
  • A minigame similar to Shell Shocked from Mario Party 2, and Cannonball Fun from Mario Party 6.[21]
  • A minigame where players must lead a trail of Goombas through a patch of Spiky Plants.[21]
  • A minigame involving the players having to take pictures of enemies.[21]
