- Main article: List of Super Mario-Kun volumes
Below are the covers of all of the volumes, up to the most recent. Some of this info is speculation due to not much info being known about these comics in America.
Issue # | Description | Date of Release | Image |
---|---|---|---|
1 | The very first volume that came out appeared only in Japan; the volume is based on the game, Super Mario World. On the front cover of this issue, the reader will see Mario with his cape; Luigi, a new friend named Yoshi and Bowser with his Koopa Clown Car. In the volume Princess Peach gets kidnapped, and Mario and Luigi must get her back. They fight giant Pirahna Plants and Mario is revealed to have nunchuks of Super Famicom controllers to fight them with. | August 27, 1991 | |
2 | The second volume in the beginning manga. It is again based on the game, Super Mario World. The front cover of the volume introduces the invincible Starman. This volume also includes a special chapter with short stories based on past games (at the time), such as Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario Land and Donkey Kong. | November 28, 1991 | |
3 | The third volume of the Super Mario World manga as the manga appears in. The front cover has Princess Peach riding on Yoshi. Includes a chapter incorporating many elements from Super Mario Land. | January 28, 1992 | |
4 | The fourth volume of the manga that once again features the plot, object, and character based on the game Super Mario World. This volume includes some Christmas special short comic, a special chapter with the author, a story "based" on Mario Paint, a story when Mario actually goes to Hyrule and a climatic fight between Mario and Bowser. | November 28, 1992 | |
5 | The last volume of the manga based on the game Super Mario World. Despite Mario and friends confronting Bowser in the previous volume, the story continues here. This volume also contains chapters based on the game Yoshi and Mario Paint (the Gnat Attack minigame in particular). This is the first cover to show Yoshi with his mouth closed. | December 16, 1992 | |
6 | The company next features a volume that is based on the game, Super Mario Kart; the first and only volume based on that game. It also has chapters based on Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario World, and Super Mario Land 2. The front cover features Mario, Luigi, Bowser, and Yoshi racing. Additionally, Yoshi is holding an Yoshi Egg. There is a Lakitu that has a microphone with a speaker to see the race and a traffic light for starting the race. | March 27, 1993 | |
7 | This volume is based on the game Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins. Apart from this, the contents are unclear. In the front cover, there is a Mario figure that appeared in Mario Zone. Mario is hanging out on the figure while Wario, a new enemy, hides behind the figure. Also, there's a Carrot power-up on the cover. | June 28, 1993 | |
8 | This is the second volume that is mostly based on the game, Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins. It also continues the story of Super Mario Bros. 2 for half the volume. Additionally, the final chapter begins the Yoshi's Safari arc. At the front cover, the reader will see a form of Raccoon Mario, and Bunny Mario. | September 28, 1993 | |
9 | The ninth volume in the series is based on the game, Yoshi's Safari and Mario can be seen holding a Super Scope on the front cover. It also contains an original story, called The Crystal Mushroom Adventure, which nevertheless includes elements from several existing games, and ties into the Yoshi's Safari arc. Chapters based on Mario Bros. and Mario & Wario are included, and the Super Mario Land 2 story is continued. The front cover shows that there is Bowser wearing the protected armor, a Yoshi Coin, Luigi, some items such as a Mushroom, a Fire Flower and a Starman and Wario. | December 16, 1993 | |
10 | Partially based on the idea of the game, Super Mario All-Stars. On the front cover various enemies, including Wart, and many of Mario's friends and foes are featured, and the puzzle section is in a mash-up style. The volume contains the conclusion to the Super Mario Land 2 story, the continuation of the Mario & Wario and Yoshi's Safari arcs, as well as elements of Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land and Tetris, and Wario donning a Power Suit in homage to Metroid's Samus Aran. | May 28, 1994 | |
11 | Based on the game, Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land and on the game Wario's Woods. In the Wario Land adaptation, Mario and Yoshi go with Wario in the trip to stop Captain Syrup, while, in the Wario's Woods adaptation, Wanda appears in Peach's Castle Garden asking for help to stop Wario, so Mario, Yoshi, Luigi and Toad go to help her. Another chapter in this volume focuses on the Game Boy game Donkey Kong. On the front cover, there are forms that Wario can gain from the Jar Powerups. | October 28, 1994 | |
12 | Another volume that is based on the game Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land. Also within is the second part of the adaptation of Wario's Woods. The front cover once again features the same Jar Powerups. Additionally, Luigi appears in the middle of the Wario Land adaptation, and Donkey Kong, both the Arcade and Country iterations, make appearances in these stories. A bonus chapter is also featured near the end, with a short story based on Donkey Kong Country. | March 28, 1995 | |
13 | This volume wraps up the Wario's Woods storyline, and also finishes the Wario Land one. The huge Mario face on the cover indicates that the volume contains references to Mario's Picross, although this is only in a short section at the end. There is a sort of "look back" at previous volumes, with some elements from past adventures, as well as introducing some from Super Mario Bros. 3 and the Virtual Boy. Additionally, a "special story" about a Survival Race competition, with the competitors Mario, Yoshi, Bowser, Luigi, Wario, and Donkey Kong appeared in the volume. | August 28, 1995 | |
14 | The next volume is based on the game, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and later, Donkey Kong Country. The volume starts with some changes to the Yoshi's Island story: Adult Mario with Adult Luigi travel to the past to stop Adult Bowser from helping Kamek kidnap the two baby twins, and help Yoshi to deliver Baby Mario. Mario and Yoshi then end up in the Donkey Kong Country story, where Cranky Kong asks for help for Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong against King K. Rool. Inside the volume also are some 4-komas based on Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest with both Diddy and Dixie. | January 27, 1996 | |
15 | This volume concludes the Yoshi's Island and Donkey Kong Country story arcs, although the latter also incorporates the events and characters of Donkey Kong Land. Dixie also makes an appearance in the main story this time. A new arc based on Super Mario 64 begins, starting with Mario and Luigi receiving the new Nintendo 64. Mario then ventures through the first few worlds, and meets a Bob-omb Buddy who accompanies him throughout this story arc. The volume finishes with a short collection of 4koma based on Mario Kart 64. The front cover shows Mario flying with the Wing Cap as Baby Mario floats with the Cape and Yoshi takes on his Yoshi-Copter form. | June 1996 | |
16 | This volume is largely based on Super Mario 64, with the main storyline continuing in all chapters of this book (although it crosses over with Mario Kart 64 in one chapter). There are also two 4koma sets for Super Mario 64. Throughout the volume, Mario is accompanied by Yoshi and the same Bob-omb buddy he met earlier. | April 1997 | |
17 | This volume is split, with about half continuing the Super Mario 64 arc, while the other half follows Mario Kart 64 in a separate story, with Mario and friends having misadventures in the various tracks of the game. | November 1997 | |
18 | This volume further continues the Super Mario 64 arc, with Bowser resetting the game with a N64 controller during the final battle, forcing Mario to start again. This time however, Bowser has managed to infest Peach's Castle with his minions. It also features the second part of the Mario Kart 64 story, including a section based on the Battle Mode. Another chapter continues the "overview"-style chapter from Volume 13, with elements from past volumes of the manga coming into play again briefly. | August 1998 | |

Apart from the main focus on Paper Mario, it has special chapters at the end dealing briefly with Wario Land 3 and Mario Tennis. | July 2001 | |
26 | This volume continues the Paper Mario arc, showing all the Star Spirits on the cover, along with Goombario and Kooper.
