After extinguishing the flames on the Kitchen side of the Boneyard with the Water Element, Luigi finds himself in a grassy lawn. Luigi finds Spooky, a sleeping guard dog in his doghouse. Luigi captures both Spooky and a Skeleton Ghost named Mr. Bones, which causes the Boneyard to brighten. Luigi notices some sparkles inside Spooky's doghouse, and decides to investigate with his Game Boy Horror. This transports him to the Graveyard.

The only items of interest in the Boneyard are Spooky's doghouse, a spigot, and a small bean-like plant buried in dirt on the eastern side.
If Luigi waters the bean, the bean sprouts into a small plant. After Luigi captures Bogmire, the bean grows and produces a bud. If Luigi waters it again, the bud grows and blooms into a gigantic flower. When he defeats Boolossus, the flower becomes a seed pod. Luigi then may water it a final time to make it open, revealing the rare Golden Diamond. With it are 2 Gold Bars, 20 Bills, and 30 Coins. If Luigi does not water it after defeating a boss, the plant whither and dies.
