Punpun behind Boom Boom.
Punpun[1] is a new villain and boss, making her first appearance in the upcoming Nintendo 3DS game Super Mario 3D Land. She appears to be the female counterpart of Boom Boom, but having a ponytail and a pair of beads on her head, shorter arms than Boom Boom's, and a smoother shell with dots, while other Koopas have a shell with plates and grooves. She is also seen wielding a boomerang.

In Super Mario 3D Land, Punpun resides in her pink airship. In battle, Punpun will throw boomerangs at Mario, similar to a Boomerang Bro. When Punpun takes damage, she will hover in her shell and try to land on Mario, unlike Boom Boom.[2] This can be avoided by stepping to the side.
