Spaces are marked areas that appear throughout game boards in the Mario Party series. When stopped at, they will cause an event to occur which can range from benefiting the player to causing a massive event in the board. Depending on the number rolled by the Dice Block, they can be stopped on or passed. However, some Spaces can't be stopped at, such as the Star Space. Spaces are capable of holding 4 characters at once.
Throughout the Mario Party series there have been several different spaces. Some are recurring, but there are some that only appear in certain games. The shapes of the Spaces have also changed throughout the series, ranging from circular shape to hexagonal. Almost all Spaces have special features. The most common spaces that have appeared in nearly every Mario Party game are the Blue Spaces and Red Spaces, which add 3 coins and subtract 3 coins respectively.
