Template:Roombox The Conservatory (Japanese: 音楽室 Music Room) is a room cleared in Area Two of Luigi's Mansion.

After procuring the Key from Shivers in the Butler's Room, Luigi gains access to the Conservatory, where he finds many instruments. Sitting at the grand piano is The Beautiful Pianist, Melody Pianissima. However, she is invisible to Luigi. The plumber notices, however, that when he taps the instruments, they start playing a song. Melody is impressed with Luigi's "musical talent" and offers to let Luigi hear a song played on her piano. After she plays her song, she asks the green-garbed ghost hunter one of two questions. If Luigi answers the question correctly, Melody makes her sheet music fly at Luigi. Luigi avoids the projectiles and goes straight for Melody herself. With the beauty safely stored inside the Poltergust 3000, the Conservatory brightens and Luigi receives the Key to the Dining Room, his next destination.

There are many pictures of a ghost playing the saxophone on the walls. On the very northeast corner of the room there is a small dresser with a flowerpot on top.

Instruments

The Conservatory houses a variety of musical instruments. Each can be activated and plays a tune. The instruments consist of the following:

  • Horn
  • Harp
  • Cello
  • Three kettle drums
  • Xylophone
  • Grand Piano

The grand piano, unlike the other instruments, cannot be played.

Trivia

  • The song played when all the instruments are activated is the Super Mario Bros. theme.
  • In the beta version of Luigi's Mansion, the saxophones hung on the wall where the leftmost painting is now, next to a french horn (which was removed completely from the game), which hung where the rightmost painting is. They were accessed with steps Luigi could walk up to reach them. Ironically, the saxophone's beta spot is replaced by a picture of a ghost playing a saxophone, while the french horn's spot is replaced by a picture of a ghost playing what appears to be a french horn.
